We checked out this restaurant for the first time last night. Inside decor was very nice, the bartender was great and the food / drinks were amazing! However...we were notified at 8:30pm that the kitchen "wanted to close early" and that if we wanted to order food that we need to hurry up and do it. We obviously felt rushed and the bartender kept apologizing and said they do this often. As I looked around there were several other couples seated at the bar spending money on food and drinks just like us. They were also caught off guard when they were told the place was closing soon. We received our food and an employee literally tried to take some of our food away while were were still eating!! The bartender had to tell her to stop and said we were not finished! Talk about feeling rushed!! We were completely baffled that they had no problem kicking everyone out even though we were all spending money. The bartender told us that they close up early if the dining room is not busy...which is completely bizarre since your restaurant is called Tequila's Town...you're a tequila bar and people are going there not just for the dining room but for the BAR! If the bar is pretty full...why would you kick everyone out! People were even coming in to eat and drink and the employees basically told them that they're closing. I would have easily spent an additional $100 or more to try more food and tequila but so sorry you missed out since going home was more important to the owner. Clearly priorities are out whack at this place. Why in the world would you close at 9pm??? And why on earth would you turn customers away and kick out people who are spending money??? Clearly the owner / manager is not interested in what the customers want since he just wants to shut down and go home. This location will not last if they don't change things and extend their hours. There are plenty of Mexican restaurants in Jax that stay open later and wont make you...

Not sure if we did something wrong (as in sit down at the bar and give her business) but the bartender, who was indeed busy, would not make eye contact or check in on us. Not that busy, but was clearly not prioritizing so was putting herself behind. I got the vibe that you would from a girl who was dating your ex and had something against you? I wasn’t just taking it personally, the girls next to me gave me side eyes after witnessing her interact with me. 3 patrons sat down AFTER us before we were greeted. I could understand if she was having a bad day, but I doubt that was the case. (Blond chunky girl) come to find out her name is Jenny. She was poring herself and another patron shots of Milagros and shooting them… all while we sat there with empty drinks and were waiting to order. We also witnessed her pouring liquor that was poured into a glass back into the liquor bottle! That is ILLEGAL. We finally ended up ordering food after a gentleman (not bartender) asked if we wanted refills, to which we replied yes and wanted to order. We appreciated it. Food was OK. OK enough to come back since we live up the street but not after the treatment we got from Jenny. We asked for the check but did not received an itemized receipt. I asked for one and she said mmhmm but no eye contact. Sure enough, we ordered two of the same entree but one with steak and one with just veggies, but we’re charged the same amount? Wasnt worth bringing up. We were ready to get out of there and never come back. Thanks...

The food and service were good.

I came here because I saw a lunch special advertised online for $11.

Upon arriving the menu had it listed for $12 which is fine, prices change. so that’s all I ordered to keep my spending light for lunch.

My check comes and it’s for $19 and change I asked for it to be fixed and they swipe my card for $16 and change.

I know it’s only a few dollars but I have really been trying to be frugal and it’s just annoying to drive out of my way for a special just to be bait and switched.

I would recommend double checking your receipts here if you’re like me and trying to cautious with money.

After waiting for a long time for checks in first place and then again for them to be “fixed” we didn’t have the time for them to be refunded, fixed and recharged.

Really disappointing experience here.

Update: no response from management tells me exactly where this issue stems from. I will be sending corporate a message as well as a buyer beware. Y’all are scamming people. I took pictures of everything as well.

Update: 5/22/25 still no response from management. I’ve managed enough restaurants to know this is a bad sign. If the captain of the ship doesn’t care I can guarantee you the guy handling your food...

After savoring Turkish coffee, our journey led us to a bustling Mexican restaurant on the corner, enticing with its vibrant exterior. Driven by a combination of hunger and the restaurant's allure, we decided to give it a try. Immediately upon being seated, we were treated to hot tortilla chips accompanied by a flavorful salsa—spicy, limey, and incredibly delicious. The interior decor diverged from the typical Mexican style, embracing a more modern theme. Perusing an extensive menu, we were impressed by the myriad options, a departure from the usual in Mexican restaurants. Choosing proved challenging, but we settled on 3 tuna tacos, Molcajete, and Camarones A La Diabla. The anticipation heightened as we indulged in the complimentary chips, leading to an unexpected second serving. When the dishes arrived, their generous portions and impeccable presentation surprised us. The chipotle sauce in the tacos elevated their richness, the Molcajete looked both soupy and delectable, and the Camarones A La Diabla presented an appealing shrimp dish with extra tortillas on the side. The abundance compelled us to pack some for later. Throughout our experience, the service was exceptional, contributing to an overall fantastic dining adventure.

Yes! A five ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👏 from this reviewer. I’m a tough reviewer when it comes to Mexican food. I grew up with the best Mexican cook… my grandma who was born in Mexico. They did an excellent job in all areas - food, beverages, service, cleanliness, easy access. Great variety- Food was flavorful- not everything was HOT - HOT! Good spice and tasty & Add the heat if you like. Guacamole- yes! Even some Tex-Mex items Drinks - try the Mango margarita 🍹 yum! 🍺or one of their many drinks. Service- friendly, professional, knowledgeable. Fun atmosphere- indoor or outdoor seating, CLEAN honors CoVid requirements. Family friendly- high chairs, crayons, coloring menu, fun food. Large parking area. Give them a try!

My husband and I love Mexican food and Tequila's Town has pretty good food. We visit Mexico fairly regularly and always look for Mexican food that is fairly authentic. My husbands favorite is the Camarònes a la Diabla (which is not spicy enough for him but it will be if you order a side of their house picantè BUT...my recommendation...try it before you pour it on and then add depending on your tolerance for heat). I order different things but 2 of my favorites are the Torta and the Arroz Texana Bowl. I have also had Chilaquiles which is also pretty good. They have a large Tequila selection and have several Mezcal's. We return often and have always been satisfied.
