Terry's Grill Oceanway — Restaurant in Jacksonville

We have not been impressed with our experiences at Terry’s lately. Picked up a to-go order this morning. The pancakes and bacon was missing the bacon. Had to make my own at home for my son. The bottom of my husband’s styrofoam container dropped out when I pulled it from the bag due to the piping hot food being placed in it with no barrier (such as parchment paper) between the food and the styrofoam. Containers seem to be new, thinner than usual. The Philly omelet had only a few pieces of green pepper and onion, not a lot of flavor going on. Prices have gone up and quality has gone down. It’s very disappointing to watch one of your favorite places start to go downhill. Update 12/10/23: Mark, we tried again today due to your response. Made an order at 11:16 over the phone for pancakes & bacon, a Philly omelet, and BEC croissant. We were told the total was $35 or $36 and change and the order would be ready to pick up in 15-20 mins. When my husband arrived, the order was not ready, had never been put in, and he was told it would be another 15-20 mins for it to be ready. The woman at the register even confirmed she remembered speaking with my husband on the phone when he placed the order. I’m not sure what’s going on up there lately, but really hope you get it together for your other loyal patrons before you lose them as well. It starts with owner/management and rolls down from there. It’s a mess! This is MULTIPLE visits that have been wrong. I am not one to write a negative review for one order, but multiple, I absolutely will. Best of...

A group of 15 of us went to Terry's after a memorial service around 10:30am on a Tuesday after a memorial service at the Veteran's cemetery. It was one of the only local restaurants open at that time. We had called a couple of days before to discuss the possibility of our group coming, and then called again at 7am that morning and confirmed with a manager about our group arriving after the service, and was assured we'd be accommodated. When we arrived, no tables were set up for us, and wait staff did not want to put tables together because they were assigned to different waitresses. After a few minutes, the manager came out and did put seating together to accommodate two sets of 8 people. I had the favorite breakfast of the deceased... eggs over easy, corned beef hash, and hashbrowns, with toast and tea. Eggs and toast were good. The corned beef appeared to have come from some tube (like sausage), as it came in a 1" thick, 4" wide disk of browned liver-colored mush. It was not good... not the texture, the taste, nor the appearance. (A side order of this mess was one of the more expensive things on the menu. ???) The service was okay, but the failure to have our table/s ready after having called twice and confirmed the plan that morning was unnecessarily complicated during a difficult time. Everyone was cool about the delay: no scene. It was pretty busy the whole time we were there, and the diner atmosphere was good. All in all, I liked the vibe, but I wouldn't make any effort to return...

Today Tuesday July 9, and there’s a young lady with very long braids and a lot of tattoos, with pink clogs working as a server at the counter. She may need a few classes on customer service attitude, her demeanor was very distinctive. I’ve coming here a few weeks now with an over flow of patrons and all staff welcoming and concerning, making sure I was taken care of, but this young lady previously described was not concerned about my presence at the counter waiting to order. She saw I was present, because we made eye contact 3 times while she turned her head to stand in the door way to the kitchen. There was no words of encouragement to inform me that there will be someone with me shortly, she just continued to walk by me as if I didn’t matter or if anybody was there to order.. I moved here from NJ a few months ago, and was in search of a place that serves home cooked meals, her poor service was disturbing and extremely unprofessional.. BUT IT DEFINITELY DOES NOT NEAN I WILL MOVE TO A DIFFERENT ESTABLISHMENT, it just means that if I have to come across her I will request for welcoming and experience staff member.. with that being said, I THANK YOU FOR THIS GREAT GRUB, see I’m on dialysis and limited to certain cooked foods, and there’s no other place...
