I agree with the one review it's WH you know what you'll get in the way of food before you go in. I can get a better bkfst on Phillips Hwy (I won't say where) and a little cheaper but they don't have pecan waffles which my wife likes at WH. So for her I took her there around 8a on Monday 9/14/20. Note: we were the only ones in there and as I recall there were 4 employees maybe 5. We were treated nicely coming in just like any WH which is corporate policy (I'm guessing). When the server finally arrived which was not a long wait but not timely either for the customer base. My wife asked the server where her mask was...not that we are that concerned but right now it is mandated by the city of JAX and businesses can be fined by the health department. The young ladies reply "I don't have one" in a tone that could have been much better. The wife then says send a server that has one. At that point they all disappeared into the back and it took some time for anyone to return. We were just getting up to leave when one came out from the back to serve us. At that piont I said, sorry we were leaving. This statement was met with rudeness. When we got in the car my wife said that she had said we didn't wear our masks into WH. I didn't hear that statement and I can assure you we wear our mask not so much out of concern but for respect of others and had wore them when going in. I put a mask on and went back in to ask who said that we didn't wear our masks in, one said you can leave sir (in a tone lol) to which I said, who said I didnt wear a mask coming in. And another you can leave sir with more emphasis. Stalemate! lol...no one would be honest. So we will contact the city whom if you don't know sends inspectors on complaints. All they needed to do was wear the mask as the law requires...and bingo no complaint. So we left drove north on San Jose not to far to a place on the left (west side) and my wife had a pecan waffle with extra pecans... and now you know the rest...

Okay, for starters, I understand this is a Waffle House. Food is about what you would expect. We came in after Idalia had passed. We were offered a limited menu with pricing. No kid's menu, so I ordered my grandson a waffle (5.25). Waitress, Jay, asked if he'd like an add on, we chose blueberries (no mention of price). I ordered the two egg breakfast (6.00). My son ordered a double cheeseburger (8.50). He asked if that came with fries and was told it came with hashbrowns. That was fine. For drinks, we ordered apple juice for my grandson, a Coke for my son, and a half and half iced tea for me. The tea came total sweet, so I asked for a water instead. There were some service issues (grandson's waffle was last meal to the table by a few minutes, bacon for my meal was late by about 5 minutes), but our biggest complaint was the bill which came to the table totaling over $30. Waitress put the waffle on my breakfast to make the "All Star Special," but per the menu, that was 11.50, so I was overcharged by .25. My son's burger was charged at 13.50. Even if the hash rows (listed at 3.50) weren't included, as we were told they were, that was still overcharged charged. To top it off, the tally of all the wrong prices was added up incorrectly by $1. I brought all this up at the counter while checking out. The waitress was defensive, firmly putting things down like her pen and calculator. She came back with that the blueberries were a .50 upcharge. Okay, but the bill was off by more than .50. She also tried to argue the cost of the burger. I guess the price is different on the regular menu, but when you put a special menu in front of a customer, with pricing, those should be the prices that stand. She redid the bill, and it came out about $5 less. I feel bad for any other customers who didn't realize they had been overcharged, because she acted like this was all...

Let me start off by saying my family and I have visited this Waffle House for the last three months, every week. We’ve enjoyed going until today. We placed our order, as we always do, it doesn’t change(meaning we always order the same thing). But today was very different! The cook was quite bothered that we ordered our waffles on the light side, as he walked over to us to explain “the machine cooks for three minutes, I can’t control that”. We understood , but tried to explain after he spoke that we have always asked for that…but we left it as “okay.” After we received our food, we hear the cook bad mouthing about us, as well as cussing. Just to clarify, there were other customers present, as well as our small child. He also threatened us, saying he’ll “beat my husband’s a** ‘round back.” Astonished, we got up and left the establishment, leaving our food behind. As we walked to our car, the cook comes out demanding we pay for our barely eaten food. He continues threatening us, yelling to call JSO if we didn’t pay. Just to leave in peace my husband went inside and paid. He still was cussing and being belligerent. We did the right thing, paid for the food. In hindsight we should have called JSO. He threatened us, cussed at us and I will never feel safe going there again. Nonetheless, we went to the Waffle House on 210 in St. John’s. It was a pleasant time(we also received our waffles “on the light side”) at least that was a great experience! Update one month later, we have not heard from corporate(made a complaint on the same day) or the owner, but at least our money was returned...

Made an online to go order on Dec 20th. The hashbrowns were supposed to have tomatoes and onions. When I arrived to pick up my order I checked my orde and did not see anything on the hashbrowns.eaibrouhht this up to the waitress. The cook threw up his hands and said they're in there. I told the waitress I would trust them. I brought them home and my wife went through them. See for yourself. When the add on cost is enough to buy a whole tomato I expect you get more than one diced piece. I didn't notice until I got home the "deluxe" chicken sandwich didn't have the tomato and lettuce on it. The cook needs to be retrained on how to properly prepare food. I know it's the Waffle House, but we pay hard earned money and expect our order to be correct.

The San Jose Waffle House is my favorite. I live a mile and a half from the one of Baymeadows and will drive 6 or 7 more miles down the road to go to this one instead. The staff is friendlier. Period. Those folks at the two nearer to me... Well, my mama always told me "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all." So... Imma say... Just save yourself some aggravation and ride on over and see the folks at the San Jose location. You'll be glad you did. What ya'll are seeing in the photo is a grit bowl with a sunny-side up egg and grilled veggies that are usually added to hash browns. Onions, peppers, mushrooms, and tomatoes... And the cooks always get it just right, too.

Jax may not be like New York (the city that never sleeps), but having 24hr convenience at Waffle House really comes in handy for late night munchies (in our case, after a show downtown). Especially considering how hard the food service industry has been impacted by Covid! You certainly cannot consider WH for fine-dining, but for comfort food it does fine. It's like an equivalent to a "Greasy Spoon" cafe in London, but even those don't open 24 hours a day. The 4 stars is for post-midnight dining ...I can't say I'd go to WH during the day when other local choices are open.
