We would really like to see this place make it.
It’s in a good location in terms of having a semi-captive audience.
The food is better than average (kudos to the Chef and cook staff). That said, you’re feet away from a public beach. Perfect for takeout. I would suggest adding kid friendly/easy take out items and you can captivate business without occupying table space. I ended up going down 2 blocks to take food back to the kids (at the beach). Ticket was $128.42 plus tip.
The decor is appropriate to the area with a hint of fun.
The outdoor patio is nice as well as the seating upstairs and of course, around the bar.
The service is unique in the fact that it is not rude but yet at the same time not necessarily friendly. Perhaps aloof is the best way to currently describe it. The manager is present and not afraid to work but does not demonstrate the personality of someone who likes people.
Model and coach being eager, able, and happy… good advice from a success restaurant owner that if you would incorporate would help you succeed to a greater degree… IMHO.
They also oddly enough do not accept cash. So if that is your typical form of payment, there are other restaurants very close by. It’s just a bad decision by ownership because you’re forcing people to move on. Everything should be built around the convenience of your customers. As a mentor, one time, told me, be very careful in making a decision that makes it easy for a customer to decide to go elsewhere. This is especially true when you’re working very hard and have invested a lot of money in an area that has a limited audience.
You also have to be mindful that sometimes the staff is dressed more like they’re ready for a shift at a sketchy Hooters.
This is not a knockout factor for us, but you could see that a lot of people who come in and see the appearance of the staff, begin to second-guess whether they are going to stay or not.
Again, we hope this...
Read moreI really wanted to love this place! Based on the menu I saw online and how conveniently it was located to where we were staying, this was potentially a hidden gem! But after our first visit I have to say we were pretty disappointed. Upon entering, no one greeted us or the people who walked in ahead of us. No signage for waiting to be seated or seat yourself. We waited for several minutes before we were finally able to ask someone. The place was moderately busy and there appeared to be about 5 people working. We sat at the bar, and after several minutes, someone came to take our drink order. I ordered the peach mule - which was ok. The perfect margarita was less tasty - ratios were obviously wrong. While the coconut shrimp were delicious, and the fries were good, the bistro burger was only available to order one way, with lots of pink! The bun used was falling apart before I picked it up. (They need to use a different type of bread.) The pork chop my husband ordered was over cooked and absolutely smothered in very spicy sauce (which is not indicated on the menu). He says the “rosemary potatoes” didn’t even taste like potatoes, also smothered in spicy sauce. The staff was nice, but not friendly and too frazzled to be attentive. Unfortunately, we can’t recommend the Galvestonite Bistro, and...
Read moreThe funnel cake fries I had were so bomb. There were lots of fries and they were cooked fantastically. Solid price:food:taste ratio happening here, despite the fries being 11$. The food came out fast as well. The people I was eating with didn’t love their food as much as I did and considering I got a dessert, I think that matters more. (I think?) Our waitress was very inattentive. She kept waking past us to talk to other tables and didn’t bring out the dessert my girlfriend ordered. I also didn’t get a refill which was annoying. It’s a little frusturating to have to seek the waitress out to get another water or get your food. They had a tolerable volume with the house music that didn’t get in the way of conversation. We didn’t sit on the patio, but it looks very nice and looks like it had a lot of seating. The bathrooms were very nice and it had a bar if you’re looking to drink. I wish the chairs weren’t so...
