Fantastic restaurant. We stopped here for dinner on our way to our rental house for a weekend vacation and we enjoyed it so much that we came back for dinner two nights later. Everything we ate there was fantastic. Their thin crust pizza might honestly be the best thin crust pizza I've ever had. The crust was perfectly crispy and flaky without being burnt. There was a generous amount of cheese, so it actually tasted like pizza rather than just some bread with cheese on it. The tater tots were cooked to the best possible level of crispiness. The fries were the same - fried to the perfect crispiness level and also seasoned to the perfect level - not too much to be overpowering; just enough to give it a little extra kick. I would personally recommend the Thai Chicken Sandwich. It was absolutely delicious (and not all that spicy, if you're someone who doesn't like spice). The chicken tacos were excellent, as well.
The service was faster than any similar dine-in restaurant I've ever been to. We waited longer for our food at McDonald's the next day on our way out of town! And despite getting the food out so quickly, it was fresh and piping hot, like burn your mouth a little if you're too impatient to wait to take a bite out of your food hot (I'm definitely not talking about me doing that, I swear). Moreover, it's a family-owned and operated place, and they were so friendly and happy to chat with us. They also checked on us several times in the short period that we were wolfing down our food.
The overall ambience was an American diner. It's the kind of place you could find literally anywhere in the country, but the food and service were better than you would find in the vast majority of similar places. They take simple American fare - pizza, fries, burgers (though I didn't get to try a burger on this trip) - and do them to perfection. Discovering this place on Friday night really kicked off our trip in a positive way. We will absolutely be making more trips to Galveston in the future (we live in Houston and have some friends with a place down there), and we will be visiting this...
Read moreCasual restaurant serving grill items and pizza. We originally requested delivery, but they were so backed up due to Memorial Day weekend, we opted for pick up. It is good to know they will deliver to Sea Isle if we decide to try them again. We ordered 2 large thin crust pizzas with 4 sides of cucumber, tomato and onion salad. They only offer thin crust or cauliflower crust, so if you prefer thicker crust, this is not the pizza place for you. I personally prefer thin crust, so that was perfect for me. Everything was good, but the toppings were wrong on both pizzas. I repeated my order 2 times and then even asked the guy to repeat it back to me. When he got it wrong, I know the pizza was not going to be correct no matter how many times I tried. I give grace for the situation since they were extremely busy, but I also think it's very basic. Discussing the toppings 3 times was overkill and for it still not to be right was a little frustrating. We paid $72.00 before tip for our meal. That expensive for pizza, but worth it if toppings were correct. We were entertaining friends at our beach house and their pizza was messed up more than ours. That was embarrassing. The crust is crispy and the sauce is tasty, but the toppings were really a bad mess up. Counter service for pick up...
Read moreMy family and I decided to try Way West Grill & Pizzeria when we first stopped into Jamaica Beach on vacation. It may be a humble little establishment appearance-wise, but we honestly had a really good experience there! My daughter ordered a plain cheeseburger, which she said was one of the best burgers she's ever eaten (and she's a real burger snob! 😂). My wife and son both split a large, customized pizza (which all of us tried) and we all agreed that it was a very satisfying, high-quality pizza (especially for those who enjoy a crispy, thin crust-style). And lastly, as someone who really enjoys Canadian poutine, I just had to try their "Texas Style Poutine", so I ordered some of their "Beach Fries" on the waitress's recommendation ("a mound of fries, topped with queso, sweet & savory bacon jam, hand breaded onions & jalapenos with a slather of BBQ sauce), and I must say, it was one of the tastiest, most interesting, comfort foods I've ever eaten! I really have to commend them for their creativity there; it was every bit as decadent as it sounds! 😋😄 Between the friendly (and quick) service and the tasty, comforting food, I'm actually giving Way West five stars. I would definitely give them another try the next time we're in the Galveston/Jamaica...
