Don Pepe Bar and Grill — Restaurant in Jamesburg

The bad: Much of the food was flavored and cooked well but there are some serious screw-ups that do not make sense at this price point. The steak was a disappointing cut and plainly medium-well and well-done instead of rare and medium-rare as requested. We waited 5-10 minutes to recieve menus after being seated and at least an additional 10 minutes after that just to get water. Seems it's an issue with management/the bar because plenty of staff seemed to be waiting around.

The good: the seafood paella was the best tasting I've ever had, despite them skimping on the seafood. And the atmosphere (music, smells, staff) is great.

The weird: The menu is comprehensive but overwhelming and feels like it could be simplified. Some of the prices for what seems like should be lower-cost items seem unnecessarily inflated.

Conclusion: at $45 a head in Jamesburg and with Maria's right down the street, the food and service need...

Dined here for the first time. I frequent their original location in Jamesburg and I love it. Let me start off bing completely shock when I walked in. It is trendy, up-beat and lively. I expected classic ambiance like their other location. Very large menu. I had a great pisco sour and Cusqueña beer. Bartender grew up in Lima Peru. Nothing more authentic than that. Want Peruvian Food? Lima Latin in Sayreville, NJ is a much better option. Had dinner at this new location, Service was horrible and food was not good. I must say that service at the old location was better. There was no sense of urgency and several tables were upset due to the lack of attention.
