Romeo's Pizza — Restaurant in Jamesburg

I am a semi-regular here and buy their stromboli and pizza; their food is arguably the best in the area although that's not a high standard to begin with (this seems like a backhanded compliment, but this is probably my best attempt to accurately represent their quality as far as food goes)

however, i experienced something today with their service that left a bad taste in my mouth. i ordered a full tray of penne carbonara for a party and when I picked up and handed over the payment with a coupon I was told that "they won't accept the coupon." no explanation. so i handed over my credit card for a full payment.

here's the thing: this is their own discount coupon that they give with their flyers/inserts and not a competitor's. there is no restriction that it's not allowed for take outs or catering. i'm not the kind of person who would waste time demanding an explanation and insist that the coupon be honored just to save a few bucks (it's not worth the aggravation), but it felt irritating, nonetheless...as they say "it's the principle of it" and for them to reject without any explanation shows arrogance.

Stop #14 on our Pizza Tour 2022 is Romeo's Pizzeria in Jamesburg, NJ. Located right on the main strip next to the railroad tracks, there is potential for some train watching if you're there at the right day/time.

Small place. Kind of hectic at the ordering counter when we were there (Noon...prime lunch time) but not bad. Only two small lunch tables in the counter area which felt a little cramped. Luckily, someone offered us their table as they were finishing up. They had an attached dining room which I guess can be used by slice customers, not sure. A lot of orders seemed to be to-go orders.

As for the pizza...today we got plain and pepperoni slices. Nice sized slices. More tasty thin crust. Nice crisp crust bottom due to the heat-up in the pizza oven. Crisp edge, chewy inside. Another great pizza for the folders out there. Good, balanced tomato sauce and great quality cheese. Sauce was lightly spiced, not too sweet or bitter. Overall, another VERY good pizza.

They have Pepsi products.

John and I are pretty new in this area. He enjoys his pizza. So we did check out quite a few places. This is our go to! Food is tasty, good amount and hot when delivered. I have been wanting to put a review in for a while and things just happened. John enjoys the Texas Cheese Frie pizza! I'm an eggplant lover. This last order I wanted to try something different so I went for the chicken, veal and eggplant parm. Thinking the chicken may be dry and the veal tough, BUT it wasn't. It was ever so tender and juicy. Even when I reheated the leftovers. I enjoy the sliced garlic they use not the jar stuff.
