I went to the shops for a specific reason: to have the pros help me find the right oil for a dish I was making. I was planning to purchase from all 3 shops this morning-- my oil, coffee from the coffee shop, and lunch at the restaurant-- but the oil shop left me aggravated, so I went to lunch and coffee elsewhere.
Please employ someone who has some customer service skills. This lady did not. And make sure she knows your product. And the gentleman, too. I asked for recommendations of an oil for roasting vegetables that would accompany a pork dish. She had no clue, and the gentleman more or less brushed her off when she asked. She then pulled out a cookbook (really?) and started looking up pork recipes. At that point I just grabbed something that I thought might go well together.
Also, you need to update your Bucky Book coupon. It states that the customer gets a FREE mini bottle of an oil or vinegar with a specific purchase. But there's a $5 limit. How can it be free if the mini bottle has a price of $8? Just take $5 off a purchase of $30 or more. And then, I was only given $4 off. I just don't understand your math. When I brought it to her attention, she got a little snotty. She went to find someone to help, but I got tired of waiting after a minute or two.
I haven't been here in a while because I live an hour away. It's going to be a while before I return.
Edit I just unpacked my items and didn't even receive the the "free" mini bottle I'd...
Read moreAs a frequent visitor to this establishment, I have consistently enjoyed bringing friends and family to experience what I consider an outstanding coffee shop. However, I must express my disappointment regarding a recent visit, which fell short of my usual positive experiences.
During our visit, when we approached the counter to place an order, the cashier answered a phone call and began taking an order. Frustrating, although understandable. While we patiently waited and browsed the products available at the front counter, an additional customer approached the counter, and the employee temporarily paused the phone call to assist them. Unfortunately, this left us feeling overlooked, as after the employee finished assisting that customer they resumed to turning their back to us during this time.
Moreover, there was a second staff member present who appeared to be unoccupied, merely enjoying a drink and awaiting to brew. They could have stepped in to assist us although did not.
This situation ultimately led to our decision to leave without placing an order, which was quite disappointing given our previous positive...
Read moreA classy new coffee shop in Downtown Janesville, Bodacious Brew is a good place to grab a riverside cup of your favorite beverage. It's got a modern classic interior design, with exposed brick walls and a loft seating area above the main shop floor, as well as an outdoor seating area for warmer days. The metal ceiling tiles, though not original, are a nice touch as well and add a classic touch.
I had a cup of pour-over decaf, and the flavor was very good. Staff was fast and friendly, and I even received a free sample of a delicious flash brew.
There's a bit of room for improvement; the word "cozy" would not apply here. The temperature inside was a bit chilly, and while seating was plentiful, some lounge chairs or sofas would have been welcome in addition to the usual tables and chairs, and would make the Bodacious Brew more of a desirable hangout spot for conversations with friends.
Overall it's a great addition to Janesville's downtown with a lot of potential! I would recommend...
