Azul Tequila Jasper IN — Restaurant in Jasper

We had misjudged the time and forgotten the time zone change returnin, from Holiday World to our hotel in Huntingburg and because a lot of places were closed at the time we headed out for dinner, 8:45/9 PM est, we thought we might have to go with plan B or C, a chain restaurant or fast food. Determined to find a nice sit-down place in Jasper, we discovered by chance the Azul Tequila Restaurant at 101 Place Road just off Hwy. 231. Even though they too were closing up, they still seated us. Our nice waiter Antonio was the star as was their kitchen staff and manager. Although our Spanish was poor, we managed to converse and understood from Antonio's demeanor that they welcomed our business. The special we ordered was a pleasant surprise--I can't recall the name of it but the Arandeno Steak special came the closest (from their online menu description): it was two steaks served on a bed of chicken, sliced beef, sauteed onions, peppers, two shrimp kabobs, and 2 whole roasted poblano peppers, and whole onions. Simply amazing and marvelous--and I told Antonio that it was. Our other two orders, carnitas and quesadillas would have been enough, but the special order would have fed at least two other diners (it was just my wife, son, and me that night). We really appreciated the care they took to make us welcome and prepare us a feast. This will be our go-to restaurant on our return trip...

First I want to say, if you love Mexican food and have NOT been to this place yet, you're missing out. My fiancé and I were visiting the area from out of town. Being that we are not familiar with the local restaurants, we turned to Google reviews to help us decide which Mexican restaurant to try. This place is relatively new and only had 15 reviews on Google, but since the star rating was 4.9 we thought we'd try it. We're so happy we did! It's very clean, with beautiful paintings all around. I admit - I'm not a huge fan of Mexican food as a whole...but my fiancé is, and I do love good fajitas. The food was excellent! I had a frozen strawberry/passion fruit margarita that was amazing. My boyfriend had a traditional margarita on the rocks made with Azul's signature mix, and I'm not normally a fan of straight margaritas on the rocks, but I tasted a sip and it was really good. I was there a week before Christmas with a group of 8. It was very busy and took a half hour before they took our drink order and another half hour before they took our food order. (We had a friend driving in that was an hour and a half out and figured we would be done eating before she got there). A half hour after they took our order they came back to tell us they lost our order! By this time we had been there 1.5 hours and our friend arrived just in time for us to reorder our food the second time. When we reordered they didn't take my order at all, so I didn't receive any dinner. By then after being there over 1.5 hours I was filled up with chips and salsa. They apologized for losing our food order but never offered to take any off our bill for our long wait. While there are several other Mexican restaurants in the area, I see no reason to return...
