First of all, yes I know prices are higher. But to increase the price by more than 25% is asinine, seriously from $7.50 to $9.50 smh. So now you have increased the price by 25%, had it changed on the menu, but decreased the serving size by 25% as well? 3 tenders instead of 4, oh but wait THE MENU STILL SAYS 4 TENDERS FOR $9.50. No way, they got the price changed but not the serving size? So I tell the 1st server, she says, "oh, its a 3 piece", but the menu says 4, "that's just how we do it now". She did offer to go get the kitchen to make a 4th for me. No thanks, I don't want your "special" tender. The 2nd server asks hows is everything i tell her the same issue, her response was, "you can take it up with the owner, I just do what I'm told". The food was ok, it has definitely gone down hill since I started eating there, I guess it is less seasoned today, salt costs money too, I guess. So on top of the 25% increase in price and the 25% decrease in portion size there is an extra $1.60 in my bill? What, why, how? I'm not sure since the receipt wasn't itemized but either I got charge $ 1.60 for two cups of water, THAT NEVER GOT REFILLED, or i was just over charged. So to sum up:price increased, portion decreased, service bad to terrible, food not as good,, and extra charge for no apparent reason. I will...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI took my family of three on a Sunday around 6:30pm. We stood in the middle of the small dining area for about five minutes waiting for a table to be cleared before we were seated. This wouldnāt have been so awkward if my husband wasnāt visibly handicapped and using a walker. The waitress was not attentive at all and she failed to put in the order for my daughterās meal. My daughter had to apprach the waitress at the register to correct this after my husband and I received our food. We were not checked on or offered refills or dessert.
My coleslaw was spoiled, my grilled shrimp was spicy hot (the menu didnāt say it was), some of my shrimps were undercooked (mushy in the middle) and the ginger salad was just lettuce with a citrusy ginger dressing. The California rolls, fries and hushpuppies were good.
The dining area was very small and a bit cramped. It seats about 30 people. The restaurant is inside of a gas stationāwhich I found off putting. There doesnāt appear to be enough space or staff to accommodate the amount of business. The waitress was also answering the phone and cashing out customers.
Overall, this trip was not worth the $50 we paid. It might have been better on another day of the week because Sundays tend to be bad days for eating out in Jasper. But I doubt weāll give it another try at this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIf you have ever been told that gas station sushi is garbage. YOUāRE WRONG, well at least youāre wrong about Bayou. The friendly staff in this tiny attached restaurant to a gas station was nothing but delightful. Being that I am not from the south I really appreciate the direction and advice with their menu. I tried a little of everything and it was all freshly prepared and delicious. I was surprised bec up north I get some nice sushi but this was very comparable for a random hole in the wall. I had the calamari, miso soup, a Combo of 8 sushi pieces and a roll, on top of the crawfish roll. I was pleasantly surprised. Sushi rice is hard to pull off and I would say thereās was right on the money. Their menu was filled with many options and I was happy to walk in and see all the fresh take home fresh cut fish on ice and specials listed. I travel for work and I can def say I...
