We have ordered from China Gourmet on multiple occasions and received great service and great food. But last night we ordered the family combo A where you get the 3 meals, egg rolls, soup and wontons. Usually you could place your order quickly, but this time I was on the phone for over 5 minutes trying to place my order, unsure what kind of problem she was having, but I kept having to repeat myself. The Mongolian Beef was so bad, it tasted as if the meat and sauce was rotten, could not eat. The Sesame Chicken wasn't the as good as before, had a strange taste to it and very dry.(even thou I had ask for extra sauce to be added to the sesame chicken). We had vegetables add to the fried rice, as we always do and they had a bad, strange taste to them also. The egg rolls has a sour taste to them. The dipping sauce that comes with the egg rolls is usually a thin consistency with a sweet taste, but this time it had a jello consistency with a bad taste, as if it had gone bad. Even the Wontons wasn't the same as before, they had a little bit of a strange, maybe a bit of a sour taste to them. The only thing I can say good about ordering from China Gourmet this time is the food was ready when I got there. I will not be ordering from there again, even thou I have a lot in the past. We just wasted right at $40.00 because most of the food went to...
Read moreI ordered dinner for my family to go on a Friday evening. The restaurant appeared to be clean. The staff was professional and courteous. The prices were typical (about $10 per meal). The wait time was short (about 10-15 minutes). But, sadly, most of the food was not to our liking.
The mongolian beef wasn't like any I've had before and I didn't like it. It was literally covered in onion when I opened the container and it didn't taste anything like what I expect mongolian beef to taste like. (I've had many different kinds, so I have a broad expectation.) The flavor of the sesame chicken was good, but it contained low quality cuts of chicken (dark meat with cartilage pieces) and the breading soaked up all the sauce resulting in a mushy mess. The beef with broccoli had very little if any sauce on it, so it was pretty bland. We had to add sauce to it. The fried rice in each dish appeared to be plain yellow rice with large pieces of onion in it. The eggrolls were pretty good, but they were greasy. The cream cheese wontons were okay. The wonton soup was the best of everything I tried.
I really wanted to like this restaurant because there are so few Chinese restaurants in the Jasper area. But based on my experience, I can't recommend this restaurant to anyone--unless you're looking for...
Read moreI've ordered takeout here too many times to count for a few years now. Always been more than pleased with food quality & taste........til tonight!!!!! I had beef & broccoli, also ordered dumplings for a friend. The sauce on my beef & broccoli as well as sauce on the side for her dumplings was so salty we couldn't eat more than a couple of bites. When I called back the questions I was asked were insinuating I was totally lying about having even ordered at all even though I gave them my order #, name, & phone # off my receipt. After being screamed at and hung up on TWICE by management my temper was rising. The 3rd time I called back i was told it was my fault it was too salty to eat cause of the extra sauce ordered but they finally agreed to remake my order only to call back 3 mins later saying IF it was too salty it was a distribution issue cause the sauce they use and wouldn't be...
