Hamburger Depot — Restaurant in Jasper

Oh my goodness! These people took a she shed and turned into a cute quaint diner. What they lack in size they definitely make up for in taste! I had the BBQ burger and it was amazing. I couldn't even figure out how to pick it up this thing is massive and stuffed to the top. The onions were caramelized perfectly, they still had a slight onion crunch and were not drowning in BBQ sauce. And let me just stop there and say that the BBQ sauce was the best I've tasted in a long time. It reminds me of my favorite dish from T.G.I. Fridays. That sweet whiskey BBQ sauce whatever it is. I'm hoping it's homemade because the sweetness is what hooked me. So often BBQ sauce I find now is more tangy than sweet but this BBQ sauce had the perfect balance. Everything inside was clean. The staff was very friendly, definitely what you'd expect to find in a small southern home town. The lemonade tasted just like what you'd find at the fair. Yeah, that stuff you pay $7 for one cup, just like it. And I'm not sure if it's a summer thing but they also had watermelon lemonade that was just as wonderful. A local place I found as I passed through Jasper. My Garmin was not much help finding it but a nice sized sign in parking lot helped guide the way to the best burger I've had in a while. So many choices on the menu that I know I will have to stop by the next time I drive through . I had the original which was very good sized ,so many places say x weight / pre cooked. Not the case at hamburger depot it was an impressive size that I couldn't finish . The home made onion rings that were the best comfort food any weary driver could ever ask for. Fair pricing on great food. Worth the drive.

The outside of this place is deceiving as all get out!! Have no fear they do make the best homemade burgers (aside from my own) I have ever eaten! I got the Depot Double burger they asked “big” or “small” 1/2 lb or 1/3 lb patty’s. I made my decision for “big” based on other burger places “1/2 pound” burgers. Night and day difference here!! Each of the burger patty’s were 3/4” thick after being cooked and this was a monster of a burger! Pleasantly surprised, new favorite place!! If you’re close to the area it’s worth the drive.
