Upon my visit to Oink Inc Smokehouse, I embarked on a culinary journey that left me with mixed feelings. Starting with the Smoked Salmon dip, I was disappointed to find that it lacked the distinctive flavor of salmon, instead resembling more of a shrimp dip with a dominant cocktail sauce undertone.
Moving on to the three meats platter featuring ribs, brisket, and pulled pork, while the flavors were commendably smoky, the meat unfortunately fell short in tenderness, presenting a dry texture. However, the standout dish of the evening was undeniably the Bourbon Praline Chicken. Its impeccable taste and delectable sauce left a lasting impression, though I found myself yearning for a larger portion to savor.
Accompanied by sides such as the hash brown casserole and Mac and cheese, the flavors were well-balanced, but the loaded potato salad left much to be desired, tasting bland and reminiscent of a basic potato salad with a hint of salad dressing. On a brighter note, the Caesar salad offered a refreshing contrast with its decent portion size and delightful Caesar dressing.
The Oink Sauce, unfortunately, missed the mark with its overpowering salad dressing-like taste, mixed with an unpleasant staleness that detracted from the overall dining experience.
While the food at Oink Inc Smokehouse was not entirely lacking, the prices felt unjustified, especially considering the modest portion sizes. With dishes like the praline chicken priced at $18.95 for three pieces, it leaves one questioning the value proposition. Overall, while there were highlights in the menu, the inconsistent execution and pricing may deter a...
Read moreThis was the huntingburg location to start with. Firstly, the ordering process is weird. You stand at a counter with an inattentive employee and have to find a folded menu to order from. Can you sit down and contemplate this menu, no, you need to decide then and there what you want. Also, pay and tip before receiving food and service, ok... We asked about the $10 all day tacho Tuesday to be told it ended at 3. Ok... That was why we came. So we proceeded to order, 2 $15ish sandwiches. Looked at Facebook and their website, tachos are $10, all day. I brought this up up with staff, didn't really matter. Anyway, the smash burger and loaded potato salad came on a baking sheet that made the burger look comically small, which it was, with the loaded potato salad being hash brown casserole? The popper burger was good, but smashed, nah. IDK what the actual side we got was but it was ok. I got a Ruben and the corned beef was great, but it's ok basic bread, one half had sauerkraut, one half had dressing, it was fine. I got tots as a side, dang, if I would have got the tachos. Cooked beautifully. 10/10. Phenomenal tots. Great tots. Too dang bad your social media doesn't communicate with your locations and your ordering process is awkward. 3/5 would try again...
Read moreYou walk into the restaurant, and you go to the counter to order. I ordered a pork butt sandwich with baked beans, and my wife ordered a tenderloin with potato salad. We both ordered drinks, went to the table, and waited. The food came fairly quickly. The young man at the counter was very helpful, and answered questions, seemed to be a nice fella. My pork butt sandwich, or pulled pork, was already tossed in barbecue sauce, but they do have barbecue sauce on the table, so I added a little bit to it. Unfortunately, the bun did not hold up. It got soggy, and I had to finish eating the sandwich with a fork, which is okay because it was very good. It had onion and pickle, and the baked beans were just extraordinarily good. I've been in barbecue places, and the baked beans were nothing more than beans out of a can. These are very good, I enjoyed them. My wife's tenderloin was extraordinary. It was sliced on the premises, tenderized, breaded, and deep fried. It came with fried onions, bacon, with some type of sauce. She said it was the best tenderloin she's ever eaten. The place was clean. It has been there a little while, but still was clean with a good atmosphere. Yeah, go check it out. If this review has been helpful, give me a heart...
