Iztatl Cocina Mexicana — Restaurant in Jefferson Township

This place is right up the street from my home, so we were ecstatic to find something so close! They haven't been open that long, but we found them a year into being open. There was a lot of consistency when we initially started eating here. We loved it! Like weekly loved it..lol. BUT, as of late, the last 4 to 5 times at least that we have gone here, it just isn't the same. No flavor, so taste as all. Bland, rice Included. We would try to space out the visits/ordering to see maybe if it was an "off" day, but when we have gone back..the same or worse. It started to be horrible to the point that we are in search of a different spot. I can say that the when we have visited in the past, the young lady that was there, we don't even see her anymore..or the Cook that use to be there. Needless to say, we are underwhelmed and probably won't be returning. I gave a 2 star rating because the ingredients seem...

Food: Put 2 stars only because my bf liked his chicken tacos. I ordered Al pastor tacos and they were awful. The meat was burnt and I could barely chew them. I asked for no onions but found them in my tacos!!!

Service: I’ve never felt worse in a restaurant… The waitress gave me a look and rolled her eyes at me and smiled like she’s judging me. Idk what her problem was… we asked her to bring us more limes and she forgot. (There were about 4-5 other customers, so she wasn’t busy at all). We asked her to bring a check but she never did. We had to pay at the bar and that’s when she gave me that look. Even though I didn’t say a word at all.

Atmosphere is ok, but they can clean the tables better. It won’t hurt.

We are never coming back....

What a great little find in our neighborhood. I don’t normally drive thru the middle of Jefferson Park, but headed that way yesterday and found this hidden gem. They have been only opened a few months and have a limited menu, but are planning on expanding soon. Ordered a burrito for mom and tacos for me and dad. They were SO GOOD. The burrito was huge and the tacos weee overflowing with filling. I had enough for dinner and have left overs for lunch today. Can’t wait to go back. If you live in the Jefferson Park area I recommend checking them out. Parking can be a challenge on Milwaukee Ave, but they do have a parking lot in the back and you can enter thru...
