Read moreFor some reason this Popeyes produces just a flavor wave of smells that hits everything within 5 blocks of Jefferson Park. Coming home at 9pm I couldn't help, but stop by this place to see what was going on. I haven't really been to Popeye's in years because I try to stay away from fast food and they've really lost their edge in the food game that they used to have.
Will this Popeye's redeem the franchise? Sadly no. Everything at this Popeyes is perfectly cooked, the chicken perfectly crisp, fries done perfectly, etc, but the spices they used to have aren't there. The chicken was just regular chicken. I honestly could've made a more flavorful batch at home. Fries looked like they were seasoned, but when you eat them they're just regular fries, you don't taste the cajun seasoning at all for all that cajun look. The biscuit was the best part, I honestly wish I would've took the honey they offered.
With the overwhelming smells they were producing, this place was empty and has average quality food which was extremely disappointing. All of the food I had was made fresh because they had no customers so they were just making things on the fly. Looks like it'll be a couple more years before I try...
Read moreI like Popeye's, but this location is the absolute worst-- every time I go in, the people look at me like "yeah, what do you want?" and then proceed to screw up my order half the time or even forget about my order entirely. There's an entirely new batch of workers just about every month, and they always seem confused and poorly trained. Last time I was in there, I asked for the Tuesday Special, and the woman didn't even bother to tell me they didn't have that deal anymore and charged me full price. And they always act like "Here's your chicken, now get out" like they can't wait to clock out. If you want a decent Popeye's, the one on Harlem/Higgins is far better managed. I recently visited a Popeye's in Louisiana, and the chicken pieces were double the size, which makes me think the ones up north are a scam. If you want good chicken and better service, head on over to Broasted...
