The service and staff are always very, very friendly and cordial. The quality of the drinks and food are most of the time just as advertised. Sometimes the sandwiches aren't put together like they look like in the menu. The only reason I don't give 5 stars is bc the drive thru is not setup to accommodate the heavy customer traffic at times. There is only 1 entrance open at this time (on Central) but there is no direction as to how cars should line up. So some people that are waiting to make a left turn into the drive thru (from the street going No. bound on Central) are getting cut off by other cars coming from the opposite lane (So. bound) and can make a direct right turn into the DT. When those cars don't fit in the DT lane, the street traffic lane gets really congested and blocks regular street traffic. So it just causes a lot of frustration at times. I come here regularly so I try to avoid those peak times but I have experienced getting cut off while waiting... And usually I just let them go ahead since I'm not normally in a rush. However, since they opened, they hadn't made an effort to resolve that issue until recently when they re-opened due to the pandemic. Once, another customer almost hit me, intentionally, while I was waiting for my turn bc he thought I cut him off, but he didn't see I had already arrived before him. The 2 DT entrances were open at the time. I was just waiting to for my turn to get in line behind the last car waiting that came in thru the other entrance. This other guy got so upset and came within an inch of hitting my car when it was my turn. I was really scared for my safety. The DT employee heard him screaming at me thru the speaker when I was ordering and when I got to the window (since they know me already too) they apologized and gave me my order complimentary. I would've gladly let that guy ahead of me but bc of his lack of customer etiquette, i didn't. Plus, I had already been waiting almost 10 mins for my turn JUST to get in line. I don't know what they said to that guy but again, if the management would have done something to direct the flow of their customer traffic, that would've never happened. I'm sure I'm not the only customer that's experienced this. At least the gesture showed that they made an effort to make me happy. Thanks guys ! And thank you the reader for reading through my...
Read moreDon't come here if you're not a white male. My interaction at this location was an eye opening realization of how different services are for women and minorities.
We ordered throw the app while we were a few mins away. Once we got there, I stayed in the car while my Asian fiance ran in to get the drinks. We were a couple minutes early and the drinks were not there. Not a problem, she waited inside.
After 10 min after our drinks should have been ready she asked someone that appear to be the manager, Brit. Rather than checking where the drinks were, she just dismissed her and said they were very busy and that the drinks were going to be ready eventually, "just be patience". Another 10 minutes passed and our coffee was nowhere to be found. When she asked again same answer, now just a little bit rude: "lady just be patient". Note that this was around 3.30pm on a Friday, there was people dripping in, but they were definitely not stressed. It became obvious that people that got way after us got their orders.
Trying to understand what was going on, I left the car and came in. I asked the same question my fiancee had been asking for the last 20 mins, they immediately checked that our order was not on their queue, pull up the past orders and notice that the drinks were delivered 25 min ago and probably someone stole them before we walked in. Immediately our drinks were prepared and even if Brit was never able to look us in the face, the barista told us she was sorry. I got our drinks less than 60s after walking in.
As a white male, the service I got was superb. There was a problem we understand it's not the store fault and the resolution we got was adequate (even if the Brit attitude and people skills need some improvement). However, we left the store with the question, what would have happened if I never walked into the store? Would my minority fiance ever got the issue resolved? How long would have take her? Why I got a resolution in under a minute and she was dismissed for 20?
Is extremely sad that this bigoted service and micro aggressions are still happening in 2023 in a theoretically...
Read moreAt 8:10 am this morning, I was seated in this Starbucks. A woman (whose name I learned was Lele) with a shopping cart walked in. It is safe to assume this woman is unhoused. A Starbucks employee (whose name tag I could not read) refused to serve the women because of the cart. Demanding she leave her cart outside. This was an incredibly ignorant request. This cart was a similar size as a stroller, this Starbucks is also extremely large, so there was no safety concern with having the cart in the store. Furthermore, the demand to leave her cart outside was ignorant because her belongings were clearly kept in this cart. I, unfortunately, could not read the name tag of the woman doing the most instigation; she was an older white appearing woman with very light blonde hair. She was being aggressive and accusatory and threatened the woman with calling the police to “take her out” for simply being in the Starbucks with a cart. Debbie, the other Starbucks employee, was also involved, still not as harmful as the other worker. The workers never spoke to her calmly, never made their requests calmly. They demanded and instigated. Lele, of course, got defensive, angry, and felt unwelcome. The Starbucks employees' only response was, “We’re going to call the cops,” grabbing the landline to threaten Lele. There is a sizeable unhoused community surrounding this Starbucks. It is highly ignorant to work at this Starbucks, a community coffee shop, and treat these individuals with such prejudice. After the commotion began, I walked over to the woman, ensured she was safe, and de-escalated a situation these Starbucks employees caused. An ignorant store. A disappointment to the area. Upon speaking to Lele for a few moments, the unhoused community feels extremely unsafe and unwelcome at this Starbucks. They have made a reputation for themselves. I have emailed the store manager, Caitlin Folan, in hopes something can be done about the employees'...
