I was pretty bummed when Feast closed, but I had high hopes when I heard that Dickey's was coming in in its place. I'd been to a few other Dickey's locations so I was looking forward to this one.
Walking in the door it's like you were walking into Feast. They did very little (read that: next to nothing) to redecorate the inside. Since they don't have a liquor license (yet?) all of the liquor/bar service equipment has been removed (aside from the beer taps), giving the behind-the-counter area a pretty desolate appearance.
Our visit was on a Friday evening, about 5:45 p.m. When we walked in there was one table currently seated and one couple in front of us ordering. The very nice lady who took our orders was great and was able to answer all of our questions easily, along with suggested items to round out our meals. My wife ordered the loaded baked potato, I ordered the smoke jalapeño sausage dinner. We were kinda slapped in the face with sticker shock when the total came to nearly $40. For a baked potato and a sausage plate??? YIKES.
While we waited we got our drinks and some barbecue sauces to enhance our meals. The only eating utensils they had were some pretty basic, cheap plastic forks. No knives. This made our meals a challenge to enjoy because the lowest-bidder forks bent when you applied any kind of pressure whatsoever. I don't know if they were just out of stock, but I find it hard to imagine not having knives on a regular basis.
Once our food arrived it was OK. Nothing was HOT. It was basically all just warm. My jalapeño sausage was .... warm and wasn't too 'smoked'. My wife wasn't overwhelmed with her baked potato, either, aside from the size. It was HUGE...but it wasn't hot.
The nice lady from behind the counter came to check on us a couple times and took care of a couple things for us. She seemed genuinely concerned with how things were going. She also took care of cleaning any tables (there weren't many).
Our first visit to this Dickey's wasn't amazing. It was, indeed, fairly average. While I shouldn't hold it up against Feast, it's kind of hard not to while it looks almost identical inside (aside from the back...
Read moreI had a coupon for a bogo sandwich with a Large drink so I decided to try Dickeys .I have had it before when the old store was in Louisville (that was great and free ice cream too!) . The server was nice but other than that the experience was terrible. The food was cold. The 3 meat sampler plate I had was so tough and old I couldn't cut it with the utensils given. I have had beef jerky that is more tender than the brisket was. The portions were very small for $18.50. I could eat entire container of Mac n Cheese in three bites. My meal was supposed to come with Texas toast and it did not come included. I had to ask for it after everyone started eating and then it was a cold piece of bread. No Barbeque sauce was on the table and we had to constantly ask for it ,also there was salt but no pepper. I am on a diet and when I get to have food like this it is rare and when it is bad it really disappointing. I expressed my concerns and was called by the Owner of Dickeys who promised me a refund for my bad experience. After four different phone calls on different days telling me she can't understand how to credit someone a payment for a refund, I still have not received a dollar back from Dickeys. The Old Dickeys in Plainview was night and day better. Back deck, Louie's hot chicken, Mommas look there for decent BBQ. I would rather have a McRib than...
Read moreWe pulled up into the Jtown Louisville Kentucky location tonight to feed our family of six and my parents. As soon as we pulled up we thought it was weird that there were zero cars in the parking lot during dinner rush. The person taking our order Xavia was extremely rude, rolled her eyes at us for asking a simple question. They ended up shorting us a chicken tender, when asked about the missing tender she told us the menu changed and accepted no responsibility. She snapped at us and we asked to speak to the manager who also snapped at us. It was crazy to spend money to get yelled at and verbally abused. Take some ownership for God's sake and nurture the customer relationship so that they want to return. It was the most toxic thing and conflicting thing I've ever experienced as the food was actually good! We'll never go back, you should take action before this location ruins the Dickey's name and those parking lots stay empty.
Edit: I emailed that address nearly a week ago and haven't heard back. I also reached out via corporate inquiry on the main Dickey's website a month ago. Your replies appear to be just saving face and not actually...
