First and foremost: Don't go when they are having a tournament! A few customers got really rude, that were playing in the pinball tournament. The machines are packed so close together that they touch and a few rude players complained to me that my play was wiggling their machine. Well I can't help that bitc$&es! So I took that as don't come here during tournaments. If the owners cared, they either wouldn't have the machine backs touching each other, or they'd remind participants that the universe does not revolve around them. Honestly I would have stayed longer if it weren't for that. I had 8 others with me. The place lost out on several hundred $$$ because of 2 very rude players. Did I mention, DON'T COME DURING TOURNAMENTS, EVER! For food: it was just OK, but because the price was a little high, I'd give it a 2 out of 5. A $14 burger should be spectacular. They were barely average. Service was excellent. The side were tots. Not bad but overcooked. Now, as far as a straight up arcade, it is a 4. It would have been higher but too many machines were broken, and 3 others I used took tokens and did not give anything for them. The old basketball with pingpong ball machine had a broken coin slot on the left, and a broken ping pong ball on the right. Yet it was not marked out of service. The old soccer game had 2 broken players. The 2 regular sit-down car racing games would not hook up together. The Hyrdo racing machines, the displays were shot. The classic Donkey Kong machine, you can't see the top 10% of the screen at all so you never will know your score unless you get top 10.

I was recommended this place to eat and play some retro arcade games. First off, as a newbie, there are 2 doors plus an open area. None of the doors say 'Welcome' or 'Open' and had mirror coverings so I ended up walking through the open section . A gent directed me to the other side of the bar as I had inadvertently walked into a private function! I walked to the other side and stood waiting for about 10 minutes when the same gent directed me to the other other side after me making eye contact with busy servers apparently didn't work. I was sat down and left for a further 15 mins before I was attended to. I'll be honest, the waiting was kind of a killer and I was about a minute or so from leaving so it put a damper on the whole experience. Anyway, I ordered a soft drink and Frosted flake chicken tenders, along with some tots. Wait was about 30 mins which was quite long IMHO so it had been about 50 mins total before I was eating. Food was nice though and the tenders were very filling. Brown sugar on the tots novel and tasty. I was hoping to have a go on the arcades, but by the time I'd finished eating (9pm or so) the place was empty and I think they were getting ready to close so didn't want to be that last person to be kicked out. The waitress did mention they use tokens and I think $5 got you 20 tokens. The bill came to $16 which was decent enough price. Maybe I just got a bad day, but the waiting was too much really so I wouldn't return.

This place has a strange vibe about it. Pretty cool but also a bit run down. It's also kind of frantic when trying to go and have a meal. There was barely standing room when we got there around 9 on a Saturday night. Understandable, but they had a hard time keeping up with who turn it was to seat. After an hour, we asked how much longer the wait was. They sat us immediately. We joked it was a ploy to get us to spend more money on the arcade, which worked I suppose. Speaking of the games, most of them were pretty cool. Nothing new or ground breaking. Most of the cabinets were in ok shape but a couple weren't working. The pinball room, which ended up being my favorite, also had multiple cabinets that weren't working. Some didnt even let you know before throwing your quarters down the toilet. The variety made up for the disappointment in quality. There were probably over 50 pinball options. Once again, not super new but some really cool pieces. The food was pretty great. It had a lot of heft and richness to it which helped soak up all the alcohol you end up drinking while waiting for a table. Hopefully they continue to do well and can put a little more money into keeping things updated.

KIDS and ADOLESCENT are NOT welcome! Please be aware that children are not welcome. I don't care what their website or any reviews say. Let me explain. We came in about 8:30pm no later than 8:40pm, we were told there was a wait for a table- ok, the place is busy. We were seated roughly 9:54pm. "Kids" are not allowed after 10pm. While "Kids" is only defined on the menu as 12 and under. We were seated, served, and finished our meal, then paid. I had a bar tab that HAD to be separate from the meal tab. I walked out to the patio to have a smoke right after dinner, while the "Kids" used the remainder of the game tokens and I finished my beer. My "Kids" were approached by the bouncer/security/doorman and told that they had to leave. The "Kids" came and told me about how a grown man approached them and told them to leave with a very stern attitude. Keep in mind that other "Kids" ages from 5 to 15 years old are all over the place. Still seated at tables, playing games, running around. It was painfully obvious that other children were still in the establishment- you could hear and see them in any room of the building. I told the girls to go play games and if the man approached them again to come talk to me and not them. The girls went back in to play games and was immediately targeted by this bouncer/security/doorman. They told him to talk to the parents and told them where we were on the patio. Mr Doorman comes slinging the main door open with a fluffed chest telling me that "Kids" have to leave right now- no exceptions- no excuses. This door is directly next to the patio where we were standing. I explained to him very directly that we were seated less than 10 minutes before 10pm and had been there since at least 8:40pm. He responded sharply with, "We made an announcement". That "announcement" was inaudible to the dining area and seemed to have been made to the game rooms and bar area- I heard something but couldn't make it out. That announcement was made at 10:03pm and we hadn't even seen our waiter yet. He studderd repeatedly and said "Well, keep them with you at all times", then walked back inside with an obvious attitude- yanking the door open. At this point my wife, my daughter, my best friend's daughter and myself had just witnessed the attitude that the "Kids" described when approached by this bouncer/security/doorman- Our first experience and the "Kids" 3rd. My wife is pregnant and not impressed, the "Kids" are feeling awkward and unwelcome, they all walk out together, even though I told them have a good time, spend the tokens, and forget about what grumpy dude said, I'll handle it- they walked out. At this point, I'm no longer happy, I'm ready to get my money back for the tokens I didn't and couldn't use, even though they happily sold them to me, close my bar tab, leave and forget the place exists. So, I go to the bar and get the attention of the guy I opened my bar tab with, tell him I'm ready to cash out and make an attempt to turn the tokens in for credit. I then get informed that I can be given a voucher for the remaining tokens. I explained to him that my family was told to leave the establishment after having dinner and that we are unable to use the tokens and are not expecting to come back. He offered me the manager, the manager comes, goes on defensive about 35% through explaining what happened- never got details- nor did he ask for any. I then forced the details on him. He then said I could take the token refund issue up with the owner- I responded with- "Ok, who, when, and how do I contact?". He responded with, "We don't buy tokens back". I explained to him that the business had no problem seating me, serving me, and selling me tokens, however I'm not welcome to use them because of "Kids" being there immediately after finishing our meal that was happily served after "Kid" hours, while waiting almost if not at least an hour and a half for a table. This post will continue on another review- yeah it will be negative but will also include the positives. I don't want to be unreasonable but...

Difficult not to give this place 5 stars. It's an awesome place. And if you properly set your expectations then it probably deserves 5 stars. I was here mainly for pinball but we also had dinner. The food was excellent, I'd read good reviews and seen delicious looking photos but it still exceeded my expectations. I had wings which were HUGE. My wife had fish tacos which looked on point. Beer selection was great, not quite beer bar level but a fine selection. Negatives. I was there on a Friday night and while it wasn't packed it was VERY loud in there. Like concert loud. Ordering food was difficult. And when I asked for a beer list I was pointed to a tiny TV across the room. I had to go online and find the list since I didn't want to walk across the room and stand under a TV to look at the beer list. Both times I ordered a beer the server girl acted like she had never heard of the beer. Service was very slow. There clearly wasn't enough servers to handle the rush. And the music despite being LOUD was actually pretty good. It seems like they are catering to an older crowd. I'd say most people there were over 30. The games. I didn't play any of the video games but they the collection was eclectic and they looked to be in great shape. The pinball collection was great. I love oddball games from the 80s and early 90s and recbar has a great collection. There were issues on a few of the games I played which is understandable but was also part of the reason for going with 4 stars. They did have a tech working onside while I was there which is always good to see. And I think I only saw 1-2 games turned off. Prices were good too. Many were only 1 token. Location and parking was also a little strange. Drove right past and had to circle back, then wasn't sure where we could legally park. Overall great place and I...

We have been to Rec Bar many times so when family from out of town were visiting, we thought this would be a fun place to go after a baseball game on a Wednesday evening. When we went in, the "hostess" was not very pleasant and never greeted us. She simply asked if we wanted a table, which I thought was a little weird. I told her we had a party of 11 and she said she would have to put us on the waitlist. I asked how long it would be and she said she didn't know, but we were the 1st people on the list. It was a little before 7:30 when we first entered.

We bought tokens and everyone played. After 30 minutes, still no update. I could hear a trivia game happening so I asked the "hostess" if we were going to have to wait until it was over to be seated. She was dismissive and very rude, all while she ate and talked to other employees at the hostess station. Again, she said she didn't know, but that the game was over around 9, which was not helpful at all, and who wants to wait around for 1.5hours?!?!? On a school night?!?!?! With great grandparents with us!!! That's why I asked about the wait time yo begin with. There was an entire section of seats that they said was for private parties only that they could have just sat us in if they cared to be accommodating. We asked to speak to the manager and when he came out, he was just as dismissive and rude. He didn't care if we left and went somewhere else at all or that his staff were rude and unprofessional. He was making excuses and brushing us off and acting like we were troubling him. I run a tour company and I teach college students so I will be sure to never recommend Rec Bar to anyone again. My household is a family of 6 and we frequently go out to eat with relatives and friends and it's a shame that we will NEVER spend...
