I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to take a moment to share my experience from my recent visit to Quills Coffee, which was my second time at your establishment.
I genuinely appreciate supporting small businesses like yours, as I often look forward to the personalized service that comes with it. However, my experience today was not up to the standard I had hoped for.
When I entered, I spoke with your barista, who I believe was named Rebecca or Rachel. I inquired about making a latte with heavy whipping cream, but she replied very matter-of-factly that the only coffee allowed with heavy whipping cream is your signature drink. I explained that I'm on a low-carb diet and that heavy whipping cream is typically recommended for this. Unfortunately, she did not offer any alternatives, stating that no heavy whipping creamoptions could be made.
I asked about the signature drink made with heavy whipping cream and expressed interest in a sugar-free version. Again, I was met with a firm refusal, stating it was against your policy to alter that drink. I felt disappointed, especially considering that a hallmark of many small businesses is flexibility and customer accommodation.
I wished for a more positive interaction. A simple smile, an apology, or a suggestion for another drink would have gone a long way in addressing my concerns. When I asked to speak with a manager, I was informed none were available. I requested contact information for the manager and received an email address, but I felt the interaction was strained and lacking in customer care.
Finally, I had a latte which tasted fine, but I couldn't shake the feeling that the encounter had left a sour note. I value open communication and wanted to share this feedback directly with you before posting a formal review online.
FYI. No response from my email to...
Read moreGrabbed a morning cup of coffee, first time in Louisville. It was not busy, just a few customers inside and no one ahead of us ordering. The baristas were friendly. Ordered a pourover and a latte with a bagel to share. Barista warned me that pourover would take a few minutes, that's fair. Not my first rodeo.
The latte came out and my partner did not like it, but drinkable. The barista forgot about the bagel, so I had to remind them to make it while I waited for the pourover. I saw they were using an automatic pourover machine (I think a Marco?) to make the pourover instead of by hand. Never experienced one, but looked forward to trying it.
Unfortunately it was perhaps the worst pourover I've had from a coffee shop. I could honestly make a better one at home. No body, no fragrance from what should have been bright and lively beans, it was a waste of those beans! I will have to try a cup from a Marco somewhere else.
And to top it off, after forgetting to make the bagel, they forgot to take the bagel out of the toaster and I had to remind them about it. The place was not busy, so unfortunately may just be the way this coffee shop operates. Nice enough...
Read moreThe long awaited opening of the J-Town Quills has finally happened! In my opinion, Quills is the best coffee in town and it is great to have one on this side of town. This particular location has great aesthetics and a great wide, open floor plan with more seating in the loft. Not as much outdoor seating as the Firehouse location, but there are a few patio tables outside the front of the building. The decor is very minimalistic and modern with the vault being the eye catcher of the setting. The cappuccino I had tasted extra good today, but it could have just been the excitement of the new location (I'm sure the coffee was just better!). Excited to come back in the...
