The S-L-O-W-E-S-T white castle in the city. For some reason select locations are closing at 11pm or midnight. White Castle is known for being open 24 hours, but not anymore. And this has been a trend for a while now.
After going to the St. Matthews/Shelbyville Rd. location (and finding it closed at not even 11pm -on a Saturday night), we went to the next closest, which is this location. Not only did we have to wait in the drive thru line which was at least 10 cars deep; but the 2 -only two- employees managed to get our order wrong not one, but two times. Our order was for sliders with cheese, no onions or pickles. Not rocket science. We pulled away from the window so as not to inconvenience the people in the line of cars behind us. We pulled over to get situated (get drinks in order and to eat, because neither of us had all day, and it was nearly midnight), and that's when I saw how bad our order was. All of the sliders had a mound of burnt onions -with no cheese. Also, the fries were cold and burnt and the chicken rings we ordered on the side tasted like they had been cooked in the same oil as the fish items they sell. Overall, the entire order wasn't worth eating or the 30 dollars we spent. I'm also allergic to onions.
We had to go all the way back, because when I tried to call, no one answered the phone. There was still a line of cars that wrapped around the building, so my father had to resort to walking up to the cashier window and stand in between the building and the car waiting for its order. (Nice, right? Exactly how we wanted to spend our evening. Especially when I'd been landscaping my front yard all day.) The cashier eventually came to window (no rush) and my father had to explain what was wrong with (what was supposed to be) cheeseburgers. The cashier had seen us not 5 minutes before, but he acted like he didn't remember our order. The person waiting in their car that my father had been conversing with while they both waited for the cashier to return confirmed we had just been through the line, because he had been behind us. The cashier took the bag of sliders back and said it would be fixed (after my father clarified what we had ordered), and said the correct order would be brought out to us. (We had given up on the fries and chicken rings. Oh, and our drinks that we had asked to have both with no ice, had (can you guess?)... ice in both. 🙄)
After my father walked back to the car, we then had a wait that turned out to be close to 20 minutes. When we saw that no one was bringing our order out, my father had to then go back Again to the cashier window and ask what the delay was. The cashier said that the female employee was fixing our order, it'd be out "in a minute". Minutes go by, and then the cashier walks out and my father goes and meets him halfway across the parking lot. My father thanks him out of courtesy, and we drive away again; not thinking after all that, that the simplistic act of -at least- removing onions and replacing with a little square of cheese would be incorrect again. Wrong! This time all she did was scrape off the onions. She couldn't be bothered with putting cheese on 20 sliders, let alone doing what any other establishment would've done, which is give the customer an entirely new, and fresh order.
Needless to say I will be calling the manager today. And we won't be back to...
Read moreI am so disappointed in this particular White Castle on Greene in Louisville! I understand they are short staffed... But that does not excuse their atrocious performance today. Not only did I wait at the order box for a solid 10 minutes, but they were out of the widely advertised 1921 burger, and managed to get most of my order wrong anyway! I asked for a cheeseburger and an impossible burger, with extra pickles and some tater tots. After paying at the window, I then waited another 7 minutes (the vehicle behind me got frustrated and just drove off!) A woman came to the window and asked me to pull around front and she would bring it right out. I obliged, and waited another 5 minutes. Being starving, and on a time crunch, I finally knocked on the window, as I could see said woman sitting off to the side looking at her phone. So I knocked and she motioned for me to use the drive through. But finally she realized I was the person whom she told to drive around. She goes to the counter and get my bag and rudely shoves it out through the locked door. Then she comes up with BS excuses after I mentioned it took longer than imaginable for a fast food joint, but never apologizes. Cut to me driving away, only to realize there is no cheese on either, and the plain burger was already room temp!! 🤬 Bottom line, I will never go back to that particular White Castle ever again! And I will suggest no one else...
Read moreOn Sunday, April 27, 2025 at 12:11pm I went to the White Castle on Hurstbourne across from the Stony Brook Movie Theatre. I went through the drive thru. I couldn't understand some of what the boy was saying through the intercom. Same boy took my money & moved to a different window to give me my change & my food. All still while wearing the same gloves. Nobody was in the drive thru line when I pulled into it. It still took them twelve minutes to give me four cheeseburgers, small fry, small drink & small cheese stick. The burgers & fries were cold. The fries had no salt on them & tasted old. The fry container had what looked like the small scrap pieces of old dry fries mixed in. The cheese sticks were room temperature & had no taste. The outside of each container was sprinkled with pieces of onion. The small cheese stick container had one cheese stick in it & the other two sticks were laying down down in the side of the bag mingled in with cold fries since everything was just thrown in the bag. Two of the three sticks had cheese in the breading. The third one had no cheese in it. It literally was just a piece of breading with a hole across one end. There were no napkins in the bag. Sadly most of this meal went in the trash. A total...
