Absolutely... Wow!
Having enjoyed Hispanic food from coast to coast and in both Mexico and the United states, the tacos el pastor that I had at El Mexicano are unquestionably the best I've ever eaten, by an order of magnitude. I personally chose the flour tortilla instead of the corn, but any way you would have it prepared, it was absolutely was outstanding. Another unusual surprise was the incredible refried beans. I've never felt the occasion to remark about beans in any review I've ever done, because... they're beans. Basically the same everywhere you go. EL Mexicano however, is absolutely a step above. The next time I go, I'll skip the Mexican rice which was also good but not nearly as extraordinary as the beans and enjoy that on chips. Their homemade salsa was also excellent. I love the family feel of the staff here. They seem close & work well together. Trust me, you will be in mex-tacy!
Having made another of MANY trips here for this incredible restaurant, I am again blown away at the amazing food, and the over-the-top service from the welcoming and friendly staff.
We had the unfortunate experience of being in the restaurant when a lying bully-type guy tried to have his way instead of respecting these wonderfully welcoming people and the health laws they have no control over. When the awful man, and the woman with him left in a huff after their inexcusable rudeness & child-who-didn't-get-their-way behavior, the entire restaurant full of customers cheered. The staff was respectful, but firm & entirely in the right. The difficult situation could not have been handled better by the amazing staff of...
Read moreClean pleasant inviting place for lunch or dinner. Good quality Mexican style chicken tacos. Diced meat, seasoned and seered. Good flavor & texture. Complimentary chips and salsa on the table. Variety of three different homemade sauces available & FREE. They have horchata beverage too. Staff friendly & courteous. Their rice & FLAN (dessert) are excellent. Plates seem expensive though. I opt for tacos & a side of rice. Tables available to eat there with consistent lunch crowd. Update: new owner, new menu. Went for lunch. Not that many customers. Got egg plate on lunch menu. Ranchero red sauce was good. Plate was good for lunch. Four star. Free chips and salsa and variety of sauces. Went for dinner. Meats tasted weird. Couldn’t eat. Chicken smelled like dog food. I couldn’t chew The Barbacoa. The Place is clean. Gave it a one star. Sorry. Horchata and flan not as good as before. update: May 2023, salsa odd taste, chips unappealing and hard, sunny side eggs came out hard fried eggs, rice and beans edible but other competitors like Puerto Vallarta way way better....
Read moreThis used to be my favorite Mexican spot... they have changed the prices, that's understandable. They have changed the Food - unacceptable! I ordered the fish taco like i usually do with a fried filet, cilantro and onions, it's usually $2-2.50. When i went to pick it up, they charged me almost $7 for 2 of them and when I started to eat, my food fell out of the bottom of the double tortilla because it was so soggy and dripping with fishy smelling juice. The fish was not fried it was apparently grilled and chopped up into crumbs. When i took it back to complain that it's not what i ordered, the manager told me they never sold fried fish filet tacos and tried to act like i was crazy... but the crazy thing is, SHE WAS THE ONE THAT SERVED ME my fried fish tacos the last time i was there LOL! They have a whole new crew in the kitchen, the food taste is not consistent and not as good as it used to be. Got my $$ back, will find another hole-in-the-wall...
