I am not a fan. The food was good but pretty average. The ribs had good flavor but were not "fall off the bone" they were cooked in the style of a BBQ competition where the meat is expected to stick to the bone. Baked beans were good but had a little bit of an unusual flavor in the background. There was an ingredient in there that I am not used to tasting in Baked beans. I couldn't figure it out but I liked it. Green beans were average as was the potato salad. I thought it was a little bit pricey but not terribly expensive. We were there about 5:30 pm on Friday and there was one couple there eating and maybe 2 more came in as we were leaving. The Derby Festival is in full swing so that might impact the crowd. We split a rack of ribs dinner, green beans, baked beans, ordered another medium side, two bottles of Tea and Sonya got a dessert I think it was about $54. There was nothing wrong with the food, it was prepared very well but so this is all about personal preference and not to disparage their cooking. It was cooked...
Read moreVery friendly and helpful staff. This was my second visit - I just made my first visit last Friday. The ribs are fantastic, I ordered a Brisket sandwich (just to try the Brisket today) - it was excellent. Their BBQ sauce is very tasty as well - not sure if they make it in house, or add their own touches to a purchased BBQ - either way it is very tasty. Portions are a good size. I didn't have sides today, but did try their Mac & Cheese and Baked beans last visit - both were really good. They have several other sides I will try in the future (the corn pudding looks tempting). As far as price - it is reasonable for BBQ. Today a got a full rack of ribs, a Brisket sandwich and a bottle of Coke for about $52.00 after tax and gratuity. The full rack will give me several sittings over the weekend. This is definitely one of the better BBQ places locally IMO. Do note - we tried to visit several times in the past but they were always closed - they are only open on...
Read moreWhenever I travel out of town I always make it a point to try new bbq if there’s any on my way. This place had great reviews so we gave it a try and glad we did. I got a pound of tips and bake beans which both were some of the best I’ve had. The tips weren’t fatty and they were tender. They also had a nice flavor and the bbq sauce went perfect with the meat. The bake beans also had a nice sweet flavor. My girlfriend had the green beans and mac & cheese which she liked. The owner also came out to check on us and she was real cool a long with the rest of the staff. The prices were also reasonable compared to other bbq places I’ve eaten at so I feel I definitely got my moneys worth. Will definitely return again when I’m...
