Descent satisfying lunch, went for Thursday lunch, opted for chicken n dumplings platter. Portions just right for lunch. Good prices. Easy in and out. Snack bar atmosphere. Ate there inside. Chicken n dumplings are made close to the way my momma made them. Mac n cheese pretty good too. Snack bar fries. Platter and cola less than $7. Not much to look at although service and food were good. I will return for another try and return for ice cream too. Update: dine in area is rough, three season enclosed patio type room, seems like the concrete floor is slopping a bit, there is a TV, collapsable type tables with stained fabric chairs. I went for the Catfish special at lunch. The catfish Filet was too fishy tasting. I wouldn’t get it again. Inside of the fillet wasn’t cooked through like I’m used to. Stringy meat inside. Returned after dinner for hot fudge sundae and companion got deans butter pecan. Prices good but quality was disappointing. Quantity not as good as the competitors. Deans butter pecan had like grit or saw dust weird texture on the surface. We asked for another flavor instead. The Male employee was emptying a trash can when he came over to help. He got us another flavor. He seemed annoyed. I love sundaes but couldn’t finish mine. It was not tasty. I’ve fully checked this place out. For soft serve, I like their competition better. Food has a good price and the place has character. Returned. Meatloaf and mashed potatoes for easy on pocket book for lunch out is pretty good. Didn’t care for their coleslaw. Gave the Soft serve ice cream another shot. I just got child’s size. It was good. Dining room floor, which is concrete, sloops. chairs are dingy and dirty. Ketchup bottles are gross and need replaced. I don’t recommend using it. Anyway, Weekday Lunch Staff very friendly, clean and courteous. Cod sandwich with two sides was satisfying too. Descent out of the...
Read moreI stopped after seeing their sign that said "Thursday Special Chicken & Dumplings". While sitting in line at the drive-through I wondered why it was taking so long but when I got to the menu board, I figured out why, there was no speaker to place orders. So each car drove to the window and sat there until the order was done. When I finally got to the window I ordered the Chicken and Dumplings so I could take them for lunch the next day. I also ordered a chocolate dipped cone thinking I could eat that when I got home. They brought my cone very quick and then said "Now I gotta make the Chicken and Dumplings". I thought that was odd but I sat and waited and waited and finally they brought them to me. My cone had started melting so instead of eating it on my patio at home I had to eat it sitting at the window waiting on my food. The next day I had the Chicken and Dumplings for lunch and it wasn't terrible, just very bland. I think they were probably frozen. I might give them a try again but will definitely not go through...
Read moreWas really excited to try this place out. I'm going to give it another chance so this review will hopefully get tweaked because we all have a bad day.
I ordered Chicken Dumplings, Green Beans, coleslaw and fried mushrooms. To drink I had unsweet tea.
Chicken dumplings were just like grandma's (best part of the visit), green beans were cold, and coleslaw tasted rotten along with mushrooms being burnt. Also my tea had no ice in it but not a big deal.
Service was awful, felt like we were a incovenience to the people working there. Also all the trash cans were overflowing with trash even though the place was slow and fairly empty. I wanted to order ice cream when I first got there but decided I wanted to leave as soon as possible.
I love little hole in the walls like this and don't usually have such critical reviews but this was a very bad dining...
