I had a deeply upsetting experience at this Burlington location that I need to share. I went to try on some clothes, and instead of being allowed to do so freely like any other customer, the fitting room attendant repeatedly singled me out, examining each item and telling me why I couldn’t try it on. She claimed certain items were “not the right size” or that “the tags would come off,” and warned me multiple times — in an aggressive tone — not to remove any tags. She said she would be checking to make sure I didn’t.
When my sister (who witnessed everything) asked why she was speaking to me like that, the employee responded: “Do you drive? Would you leave your car unattended in the ghetto? There’s a lot of stuff going on right now.”
This was not just unprofessional, it was blatantly discriminatory and racist. Her behavior was humiliating and made me feel targeted and judged for how I look. No one should be treated this way in a public store, and certainly not by someone representing a national company.
I will be filing formal complaints with corporate and the state civil rights commission. This behavior should never be tolerated, and I hope Burlington takes...

Read moreWhat kind of clothing store does not have fitting rooms?! Guy just told me they're always closed. They're not just closed for lunch. I wasted an hour digging through their factory seconds only to discover that I can't even try on the pants and shorts! (By the way, all of their clothes are factory seconds. If you look hard enough, you'll see the messed up part of it that made it not good enough for an actual retail store.) I had more than a thousand dollars worth of pants, shorts, t-shirts, and button-up shirts in two carts. I left them both sitting at the entrance where the employee told me about the fitting rooms. I've been buying from Burlington in various cities a few times a year for 20+ years, but never again. If Burlington Coat Factory is going to be the kind of clothing store that doesn't have fitting rooms, then the entire chain should disappear like Sears and...
