I used to come in a lot from 2014-2017, but moved away, and hadn’t been back for a while. A friend of mine told me that George’s had gone down hill, which I couldn’t believe because it was my favorite spot! So, I stopped in for lunch the other day to see for myself. I had a wrap. The chicken was burnt, and chewy..ALL OF IT, Not good. Fries had way too much seasoning. The “Manager” had her son running all over the place (as she was also taking a shot), which I find strange, and extremely unprofessional (not to mention the MANY safety issues that can arise from having a small toddler/child running around a bar)….it’s just not good for business. I could have left it at that, except… I came back the next day, around 2. I walked in, the same girl manager and another girl were behind the bar, they saw me, but neither one acknowledged me, too busy taking shots it seemed. I sat at a table for at least 5-6 minutes, and still was not acknowledged, they both saw me walk in. I finally had to get up and ask whether or not they were serving lunch, to which I received an “I don’t think so” from the off duty male bar tender. The manager and the other female bartender behind bar couldn’t be bothered I guess. They had lost power for a bit due to the wind, and clearly took that opportunity to party. George’s used to be GREAT! Good food. Nice staff. Welcoming environment. It is none of those things now. Cold & unfriendly. It’s sad, really. The owner told me that business went South after COVID, but after seeing for myself, I believe your inattentive, unfriendly staff, and the things you let them get away with has created a culture where guest service is last on the list. Just my take. You’re losing money. I won’t be back, it’s not the same. :(
Edit: My reply to your response. I did NOT go to the restroom. I sat down at a table. I didn’t enter the restroom once, but nice try. If staff had been paying attention, they would have noticed that. Read moreI don't care for the vibe here, at all. I have frequented most bars around town over the years and can find something I like at all of them. Not this one. I've seen brawls break out here, we've been harassed by random drunk people who helped themselves to a chair at our table and then wanted to start a fight when we explained we were just trying to have a good time with our group, the servers aren't friendly or very helpful and seem annoyed most of the time. Granted this is only based on 3 or 4 visits, but isn't that enough? I've heard the burgers were great. So, this may better as a lunch spot than a bar.

**It was 2021. I guess bar math means half a decade ago. I was in last year also and that's when I witnessed staff being a rude and condescending to other guests and unhelpful when they were needed. I've been to George's several times and I already knew the food was way better than the food in a small, downtown pub, nestled in a suburb ought to be. However, this time I couldn't be arsed to leave the house, so I DoorDashed.
I wanted to change the side on the burger from fries to their fried green beans, but DoorDash (being that their interface sucks eggs) didn't have an option for me to do so. So, I called George's and asked if they could make the change on my order. The lady who answered the phone said she wasn't sure they could since that change was an upcharge, but she'd get her manager on the phone with me to let me know.
She put the phone down and I could hear they were pretty busy. I waited on the phone about 4 minutes or so, which felt like a long time when you're just sitting on the phone, so I decided it wasn't really worth it and hung up.
When my food arrived what did I find??? They had thrown in a whole side of fried green beans...FOR FREE.
So yes - George's has good food. But they also have good people. Go see for yourself....
