Me, my wife, and two daughters decided to eat here since Moeâs Southwestern Grill Was permanently closed so instead of driving to Bristol we decided to pick somewhere local that was similar and we seen that Bubbakooâs was new. Me and my wife decided to make our own Steak burritos and get our children two kids meal quesadillas, which surprisingly didnât come with a drink⊠The employee mustâve been new because he didnât even wrap our burritos. He literally said I donât know how to wrap this and just wrap the foil around them. There were some employees there that seemed like they were entitled because they literally just sat there watching around while the other people cooked, made the burritos, and was bossing them around the whole time. time but wasnât doing nothing at all just standing there. Iâm pretty sure there isnât three managers working the cash register even so, that is pretty sad to have employee just sit around bossing people around while not doing nothing. A true manager would take the initiative and help others when needed. Our total came out to $50 for two burritos and two quesadilla meals no drinks. Me and my wife were expecting to get chips and salsa for that price and all we got was a single burrito each. That is absurd for burritos. I know yâall ainât Taco Bell but I am Hispanic and I can tell you it donât cost $20 a burrito that is literally like a 150% profit return. The food was good though I canât Deny that, but for the price I couldâve went and dined in at a Mexican restaurant wouldâve got chips and salsa for complementary. Yâall also have the audacity to ask for a tip when you donât even sit me down at my table Nor bring the food to me. If yâall could do better on the pricing, I promise yâall it would do way better but at this point it just seems like yâall are trying to make a bang for your buck Or trying to get over on these young college kids. I would rather probably drive to Moeâs in Bristol and pay that price and get drinks for the whole family chips and queso and double meat. Let me know when yâall have like a 15 to 20% price cut on your items. Just a little key information most restaurants give kids free drinks, most restaurants that serve burritos give chips and salsa for free and burritos arenât $20. 2/5 rating. Maybe one day iâll drop by and see if anything has changed until then I wonât be purchasing again. Break my pocket for two burritos and two quesadillas never again. Like everybody else has said in the reviews too pricey maybe I shouldâve read them...
Read moreBubbakooâs Burritos is one of the newer spots in town, and I was excited to try it after browsing their menuâeverything looked delicious and creative. The place has a solid 4.4 Google rating, and most reviewers raved about the food, though some noted the staff can get overwhelmed by the volume of online orders. I decided to test it out myself and placed an order online around 8:30 PM (they close at 9:00). The system estimated it would be ready by 8:58, but it wasnât ready until 9:10.
I ordered a âCreate Your Own Burritoâ with grilled chicken. Unfortunately, the chicken was the biggest letdown. It was dry, hard, and overcookedâcompletely blackened on one side. While I normally enjoy a bit of char, in this case, the small, burnt chunks were too tough and took away from the overall experience. The burrito itself was massiveâdefinitely shareableâbut I only made it through about a quarter of it due to the texture of the chicken and being full.
I also added fajita veggies. These can be hit-or-miss anywhere, and my first bite confirmed that: I got a thick, chewy onion peel that I had to pull out. After that, the veggies were good, but nothing outstanding.
On a more positive note, I also ordered a beef taco salad, which was a hit and got great feedback. Chips and queso were also solidâespecially the queso, which was creamy and flavorful, with a touch of spicy. The chips reminded me of those from a sit-down Mexican restaurantâgreat when warmed up.
Staff was friendly but clearly stretched thin with both online and walk-in orders. There were a few customers in front of me when I arrived, two of whom looked visibly frustrated by the wait. That said, the team seemed to be doing their best under pressure.
Even with a $5 off coupon, I canât say it felt like a great value based on this visit. I was really hoping Bubbakooâs would be a strong contender against places like Barberitos or Chipotle, but it didnât quite land for me this time. Still, I might give it another shotâmaybe earlier in the evening, and Iâll try a...
