Uncle Tony's Pizza & Pasta — Restaurant in Johnston

I have been going to Uncle Tony's Pizza and Past restaurant since 1970, about 52 years ago, the food has been nothing but spectacular. Everything they make us just like homemade. No bottled jar sauce in this place!! Everything is made fresh from the start. I recommend the veal cutlet parmesan with the penne side. The sauce is excellent but I usually tell my waitperson to put the sauce, on the side, so I can add the amount to my liking. If you love the taste of their excellent tomato sauce, you can have your meal drenched, in this great sauce. I prefer to be able to taste the quality flavor of their veal, and accent it with just the right amount of tomato sauce. I would also get a salad with their homemade house dressing, which is bomb. Don't forget to get a side of Italian bread to eat with your appetizer salad. If you like garlic bread, they make the best, with or without melted parmesan cheese melted on top, Ooh-yeah. If you like baked fish, I suggest the baked scrod, with the cracker crumb topping, with drizzled butter, baked to perfection, Oooh-La-La..(My mouth is watering as I am composing this post, and I'll probably go there for lunch today!) It also comes with pasta or potato and vegetable, and a cup of soup, on the side, your choice. They make all kinds of pizzas, even personal size for the kids or for yourself, called a Piccolo pizza. It also comes with a side salad or soup,, if that's what they like. Their subs are the best. Chicken parmesan, The Brutus, Cleopatra, Grilled Tuna, 1/3 lb. Burgers, and their Original Plumpy. Spinach, stuffed in seasoned dough, with pepperoni, and olives, baked to perfection. Great stop for their Luncheon specials. You must check before going as it changes daily. I stop here at least once a week, sometimes more, to get an amazing quart or gallon(depending on what my wife is preparing for weekly meals). One can separate the gallon into 4 quart containers, freeze and date, so you'll always have the best tasty sauce on hand 😋. Their chicken escarole or Italian wedding soups are both bomb, There is no way one can leave hungry from Uncle Tony's, and you'll probably have some leftovers, which you can have for lunch or supper the next day. You won't be disappointed, and will return to try a different menu item, the next time, Variety is the spice if life. I was seated promptly and the waitress came to my table quickly to get my beverage order and then my food order. I was specific as to how I wanted the sausage prepared but, she took the liberty to interpret that and so the chef didn’t prepare it to my liking. When I pointed it out to the waitress she said to my utter shock that she would take it back because “ he can use it for something else” REALLY !? I couldn’t believe my ears, and now with my lunch sitting in front of me, I thoroughly lost my appetite. I told her to leave the food. Then she completely abandoned me for the rest of my dinner which I ate. My glass was empty. After finishing as much as I could, and waiting about 10 minutes the waitress came by and asked if I needed a box to wrap up the food. She promptly returned with a box, a bag, and the check. I was going to get a cup of coffee but, having the check now seemed like a better opportunity to settle the bill. Sandwiches were horrible. No cheese on a chicken parm (?) second sandwich was not only soggy but not filled with much cold cuts. More lettuce and onions. Sauce was bitter and I guess I am too. Not returning to this location evet again. Better off getting burger king. 👎👎👎👎 UPDATE: we tried Uncle Tony's yesterday. The two sandwiches I ordered - a chicken parm and an eggplant parm had NO CHEESE! Done with ever giving them my hard earned money. I called and should have gotten my money back but all I got was "sorry" ...really? I would not recommend this place at all! If I could give a negative 100 as rating I would. Update: just left there again with half the order correct! I witnessed the clerk pick up the phone and slam it down every time it rang! Save yourself the trouble and don't go there. Management needs a tunr up as well as staff. If you don't like your job, step aside! Someone else...
