Now I remember years ago, when Denny's was the "IT" place to go! Every other week when my grandma came into town to pick me up we would eat there and you could never get a bad meal. But now their food is so all over the place with consistency that I never know when it's going to be absolutely amazing or make me sick to my stomach all night. The last five or six times that I've been there, my family and I have spent most of the night getting sick or feeling sick or unable to even eat the food we were made! Yet we keep going back because we remember when it was fantastic and you felt like family. The servers ( at evening or overnight shifts mostly) look sloppy or are rude. Not all, but most. We don't even go in to sit anymore because we don't want to deal with it and that's not fair to be treated like that. But even last night, we ordered food, my mom's food she said was amazing! Yet our food was another story. My husband got breakfast and their grill desperately needed cleaning by the look of the color of the overcooked eggs and pancakes were burnt. I got the Country Fried Steak dinner with cole gravy, bacon tater tots that had been fried in the most disgustingly old oil I've ever smelled, because YES you could SMELL how gross the oil was before you looked at these dark colored tots that the middles weren't even cooked through. Ordered sauteed mushrooms with it, that they told me I did not order but yet it was on my receipt that I had. Got them and they were old and small and they tasted disgusting in some kind of oil butter sauce. I did not get the veggies that came with my meal and was told that I actually do not get two sides, even though that's what the menu says. My bread was burnt and soggy, because I can only assume that once they realize it was burnt, thought that they could cover it up with a bunch of butter..... We had looked at the online menu first and had priced everything out, yet somehow, when we got our total, it was almost $10 more then what the menu said. And when we had placed our order, the hostess/server that had taken our order, proceeded to argue with me about what I was allowed to order and not allowed to order, even though on the online menu we could do it and even if we had ordered it previously. I could not even eat my food! Ordered food for my kids, that was on the receipt, but was never made and told was NOT ordered and then the girl had a tantrum over having to do a refund because we didn't want to wait after all that! Normally I would not go online and make a bad review, I would try to go to the place of business and talk to them about it. But we've been there and done that so many times that it's not even worth the time and after being told that we were wrong so many times last night, we weren't even...
Read moreA Morning Masterpiece at Denny’s on Cork Street
From the moment we stepped into Denny’s on Cork Street, it felt like walking into a warm memory. The comforting scent of fresh coffee mingled with a medley of pleasant aromas, promising a breakfast that would nourish both body and soul.
We were greeted with a genuine smile and seated promptly. Our server—Brittany M., a true breakfast angel—radiated warmth and attentiveness. Her cheerful demeanor and intuitive service made us feel not just welcomed, but truly cared for. She checked in often, always with a smile, and her positive energy elevated the entire experience.
And then came the food—oh, the food! Each dish arrived hot, fresh, and plated with care. My wife indulged in the Berry Vanilla Crepe Breakfast, while I dove into the Philly Cheesesteak Omelet. Both were accompanied by generous pours of rich, perfectly brewed black coffee. The crepes were golden clouds filled with fresh strawberries and cream, the hash browns crisped to perfection, and the eggs cooked exactly to our liking. The omelet was a delightful surprise—savory, hearty, and every bit the Philly Cheesesteak experience it promised. Classic American comfort fare, executed with finesse and heart.
But what truly sets this Denny’s apart is the atmosphere. It’s more than a diner—it’s a sanctuary for early risers, road trippers, and anyone seeking joy with their morning coffee. Whether you're diving into a Grand Slam or savoring a skillet, every bite feels like a celebration of simple pleasures done right.
At the end of our visit, I casually asked if they offered senior or military discounts. Brittany wasn’t sure—but before I could say “boo,” she was already on her phone, calling her manager to find out. Within a minute, she returned with a beaming smile: “YES, we have a Military Discount for you!” I was floored—not just by the discount, but by her initiative and speed. The most astonishing part? Brittany had only been working at that location for a month. So had the chef. Yet their professionalism and passion made it feel like they’d been part of the team for years.
The establishment was spotless and inviting. The food was outstanding. The staff—knowledgeable, respectful, and genuinely kind—made us feel like honored guests. If breakfast is the most important meal of the day, then Denny’s made ours unforgettable. We’ll be back—not just for the food, but for...
Read moreWell I use to work there and let me tell you it's not refreshing. People like to blame the waitress for everything nothing was prepared, you had to do your own dishes because every dish washer they had walked out she couldn't keep a good cook she was very rude to her employees, there is never any silverware (always dirty) they want you to have your ish together on your shift but never having thing done for you on their shift you have to make all the drinks literally all! they don't have a juice machine at all so the drinks that you get are all concentrated lol. I was like really!!! You have to bus your own tables do the dishes and make sure the cook has dishes if not yall wouldn't eat at all it's not organized so the work we had to put out for the customers even if we tried our hardest the cook was always screwing up taking to long to cook or over cooking everything, so that fell on who me so I had to be as nice as possible and still I made $20 tips from the most kind hearted people who I really appreciate to this day. I've met some really wonderful people also it's like a war zone trying g to make money because everyone is fighting over tables that's when I got better at my job... they will never keep anyone there because the ones who's been there the longest has more pull so yeah I was constantly screamed at by my manager even though I bussed my butt I got the menu down in a few days I was able to work by myself then it all started. I was never able to stay on the floor because others wanted to make their money so she screamed at me for not getting a lesson done called ignite. I just think she wanted me off the floor because like I said other people want to make their money and how could they if I'm on the floor making money also lol, I was a awesome server and that place is a war zone she has to realize you won't get far playing favoritism heck they all left me there I chose to stay with no dishwasher and a terrible cook so that mean no tips for me! But I didn't know it was going to be like that I still ran my floor and got it done well that's my experience working for Dennys. But I see why they couldn't keep employees. No respect at all!!! So be prepared to do your shift and everyone else job and not get paid for...
