3.5 star rating. We stopped in for dinner after getting off work late. You place your order at the counter then they will bring your drinks and food to your table. The staff here is very friendly and they do come around and check on you during your meal. We ordered a Greek gyro and a chicken tips plate with slaw and green beans. Dining area was about 75% filled but service was relatively fast and food came out hot on paper plates with plastic utensils. The gyro was packed full with sliced gyro meat, lettuce and onions, and what was supposed to be tzatziki sauce but it was more like a watery salad dressing that didn't really taste like tzatziki. The gyro meat was tasty but very dry, like it has been sliced and left out under a heat lamp for a while. This was all wrapped up in a soft, fresh and hot pita. Truthful, the pita was the best part of it all. The chicken tips plate had grilled chicken bites over white rice with chicken gravy and was ordered with green beans and white slaw, and came with a dinner roll. The chicken was a bit over cooked and dry on the outside, so it's was good to have the generous about of gravy over it all. The green beans were straight out of the can with no seasoning whatsoever. The slaw was very tasty though, and had we known, probably would have gotten double slaw instead of the green beans. Overall, not a bad experience, but this won't be one of our regular stops for dinner. Maybe we'll try a burger at...
Read moreThey have several items here that have names like “The Humdinger” with no description. Thus, I had to ask the order taker to describe them for me. She was very patient and kind, but eventually just told me “you can’t go wrong “.
You order at the counter and they bring it to you, and I settled on the patty melt, a hotdog, and fries.
Patty melt: This is the one menu item I actually did not ask her to describe, and when I got it, it was not served on rye bread—it was served on Texas toast. I know this is a practice some find acceptable. I am not such a person. I think you can be arrested in some parts of the country for preparing a patty melt on any bread other than rye. Certainly I think using any other bread makes it NOT a patty melt. At the very least, this should be explained ahead of time. There were not a lot of onions, the patties were pretty bland, and it was overall just a decent sandwich. Texas Pete to the rescue!
Hot dogs: the wiener actually had a very good flavor, the slaw was decent but was a little wet, and the chili was very bland. The bun was lightly toasted, which along with the frank made the dog salvageable.
Fries: average. Again, Texas Pete to the rescue!
Nothing was bad at all, so I suppose the young lady was correct when she said, “you can’t go wrong”.
But it just wasn’t as right as...
Read moreWe'll never go to this establishment again. Very terrifying experience for my two-year-old when we go to went to sit down and there was a roach that crawled across the table. We sat down at North 29 thinking that this will be a great experience like it was when we went a couple years back... come to find out there was nothing but dead flies on the window sills and a big bug problem. I don't know if this is recent but of when I went to go tell the owner about this and how I wanted my money back and to go show him the dead roach that we had just killed on our table he went to go off and say that we had no right accusing him of that. And insisted that we had brought that from our home. Even though we hadn't even got our food yet or even started to eat it! Will never return to the establishment. Seems like he was trying to impress the young girls behind him! Really sad this restaurant used to be a great place to eat at and we'll never ever ever return until there is somebody else...
