Don't waste your money. We live in KC, and we were flying out. It was late, and we stopped for a bite to eat at City Market Food. We were excited because we enjoy the local City Market and the food! However, the food at the airport was unpleasant. From the start, the waitress was trying to discourage us by how long it will take. Once we sat down, a waitress came up and started discouraging us again about being out of several items (none of which we were going to order anyway). I ordered 2 sweet & sour chickens, chicken strips & fries, and a steak sandwich. The sweet and sour chicken was cold in the middle. It was frozen breaded chicken, "heated up," and tossed in a sauce, then placed on what looked like couscous. Both meals were luke warm with cold centers. The chicken strips & fries were as expected, but the steak sandwich was also barely warm and looked like it could be bought at Walmart. We spent $100...$100.. I couldn't believe it. I don't mind paying that for good food, but this was definitely the worst. We have people flying in to KC, and this will be their impression of the local City Market. It doesn't look good. It would cause me to avoid the market altogether. I'll never, ever spend my money...
Read moreKC needs some help in the food options. Especially for those who don’t eat BBQ.
Server Amanda was sweet- running the whole dining room herself. Seated myself after standing at hostess stand for a while, then got up to grab a menu. It was dirty/sticky. Should have taken the hints at this point.
Table service, but with disposable cups, bowls, flatware, etc. You pay by QR code after paper check is dropped at table by the server. A self-ordering option would helped her out. Not sure why the need for a server, really. I was delivered the wrong check, but she was so busy, I just paid it. Not even sure if it was more or less than my tab. It had booze on it, and mine didn’t, so who knows. Had to catch a plane, so…
No non-meat substitutions offered. Peanuts on Brazil salad instead of cashews. Brazil bread bites seemed raw. Ick! Pop had a ton of ice, so it only offered a few sips and never filled. I feel bad for Amanda, but left hungry and disappointed. That girl hustles, but is not given the tools to succeed. Big opps here for restauranteurs who want to get in the airport game. KC needs...
Read moreReally cool place and atmosphere. Very understaffed and food and beer doesn't represent the actual establishments well.
Service-wise, Amanda did a great job but was taking carry out orders for 4 restaurants, seating everyone, and waiting all of the tables. The bartender never even filled our beer order, so Amanda went and poured them. Cheers to her. Boo to management for staffing like this.
They were out of at least two of the six Boulevard beers on their tap menu, and it seems like that had been true for some time.
Buffalo State Pizza was raw. Literally, this pizza was completely filled with raw dough and barely warm. We were told it would take 15 minutes and it came out in 5. Cheese was barely melted. Raw whole cloves of garlic on top which is just wrong.
Taste of Brazil salad was small, flavorless, and missing the chicken we ordered.
Really disappointing. Hopefully, the individual restaurants and whoever is managing the whole experience can take a minute to reset, staff appropriately for service, and ensure high-quality food is coming out...
