Stopped by here for a quick lunch after landing from a flight. I chose this place because I wanted BBQ and they also had seating that looked out onto the runway.
Let me break my review down:
Food: I ordered the power crunch salad with a side of burnt ends. The salad was described as being a salad with kale, broccoli, quinoa, apples, walnuts, craisins, pickled onion and a lemon vinaigrette dressing. What I received was a salad with a few limp pieces of kale, a few shredded pieces of broccoli, a couple of small pieces of diced avocado, lots of walnuts & craisins, a bed of romaine lettuce, a hearty sprinkling quinoa, a handful of apples and pickled onion. I was very disappointed at the quality of the kale and broccoli and the scarce amount of avocado in the salad. I will rave, however, about the dressing. So yummy! The burnt ends came on top of my salad (I tried flagging down the waitress to have her put it on the side but I could never get her attention. Not sure if she was deliberately ignoring me or if she was just way too busy. Anyways, I immediately took off the meat when the salad was delivered and put it on a side plate. I enjoyed the burnt ends separately and with the different BBQ sauces they had. The burnt ends were very flavorful and cooked to perfection. I guess it was my fault ordering a salad at a BBQ restaurantâŠ. I definitely would order burnt ends again if I do decide to come back to do take out.
Beverages: I ordered a draft beer but the waitress said the draft thing wasnât working and they only had canned beer. I ordered a local beer (wheat beer by Boulevard Co. Brewing) which was great (and at $10 a can). I also asked for a glass of iced water when ordering my beer, which I never did receive while there. Again, the service was not good.
Location/Ambience: It is located in the central area of the airport in a far corner where you can sit and watch the planes. That I need like. They also had a few TVâs that one could watch if they were so inclined to do so. It was clean and roomy and inviting.
Service: The service was lacking. I most likely will not visit again to sit down and enjoy a meal. However, I may swing by and order the burnt ends to go if I get a hankering for BBQ next time I landâŠ..or wait and get BBQ elsewhere in one of the BBQ...
Read more10/10 would not wait a minute more for Meat Mitch Barbeque.
TLDR: We left Meat Mitch's Barbecue after being ignored for 25 minutes by a slow-moving, inattentive hostess who prioritized a single-serve takeout order over seating us, or taking our order. We were excited to try the BBQ but were disappointed by the poor service. We then went to Martin City Brewing Company and had a great experience with quick service and great food!
Full Rant: The hostess/waitress took 5 minutes to acknowledge our presence before seating us, shuffling around the restaurant doing just enough movement to extricate herself from taking our orders.
She then took a walk-in / take-out order for some busybody boomer who was in a hurry (most likely to avoid the hassle of waiting on the waitress I guess). We sat for about 20 minutes, the boomer got her take-out order.
The waitress ignored us for another 5 minutes and we decided to leave.
Overall I was really hoping to try the place because my family and I have seen it a few times and decided to give it a try. Welove BBQ but unfortunately the hostess and the staff were either too unmotivated, too understaffed, or too unqualified to help us out with our anticipated culinary adventure.
Good thing the folks over at Martin City Brewing Company know how to balance bustle, hustle, and brews! We were seated and orders taken, and delivered within the amount of time it was taken to write this review (about 20 minutes total).
P.S. I rarely write reviews, and am pretty used to sub-par service, but this one warranted the forewarning. If your store hours are listed from 11am to 10pm, you should put a disclaimer up saying you'll start shying from...
Read moreIt is always difficult for me to leave reviews for a poor experience so I hope this business sees this and does better. I will start off by saying I have been around the hospitality industry for my adult life. I do understand the importance of turning tables and table availability. I waited at the host stand to be seated and when greeted stated that I need a larger table as I needed to do some work and needed the real estate. He said that shouldnât be a problem and showed me to the back of the restaurant and still attempted to seat me in a 2 top. I pointed at a 4 top and asked if I could sit there and he said no thatâs a 4 top. I said I would understand if you didnât have at least 8 4 tops empty and 2 6 tops and thatâs at quick glance. I then declined and said I guess I will go somewhere else. The gentlemen seating me who I assume was the manager scoffed and said ok as if I was being unreasonable. I left walked across to the pizza place and gave them my business and they accommodated my request. I would have completely understood if they were anywhere near capacity. Btw I have 3 hours til my flight and would have spent and tipped accordingly....
