GJ Fish & Chicken — Restaurant in Kansas City

I use to like this place. Chicken is usually good. Today l ordered two combos both had chicken and fish and I had what was suppose to have been jumbo shrimps. I was so disappointed because of the funky ass service I got from the only female at the register... She acted as if someone owed her something, she then slams the cans of pop on the counter, but hands me the bag and never said 'Thanks' or have a good day or nothing. I was needing condiments... She tells some man that came in from outside his food was ready and tended to him instead of finishing up with me. I asked for shrimp sauce, tartar and hot sauce. Now remind you, I had TWO combos... Why did I only get 1 tartar sauce and a couple of ketchup ..... No napkins. For $11.00 for each meal I had to beg for condiments...and with the funky ass attitude from the chick that worked there... I wont be going back there. I will be glad when my boys get back from Jamaica to open SHARKS back up. Oh and those shrimps they could have kept....they were like 5 salad shrimps....NEVER AGAIN. New to the area, I thought I would try GJ Fish and Chicken since it is close. The review's have to be edited because before you get to the food, customer service comes 1st and it is horrible! Tried to talk to the guy since it was my 1st time there and he actually ignored me. I purchased a dinner with banana pudding which he could not tell me anything about. After asking for a receipt 4 times, he wasn't even going to give me my drink (which came with the order) until the gentleman next to me asked for his and I asked about mine. Bread is placed under the wings and soggy fries which is totally smashed. I won't be doing business here again, 1st time is enough to know my money is worth more. GJ Fish & Chicken did not disappoint! I went all in and got chicken, fish, shrimp, livers, fries, jalapeño poppers, mushrooms, and desserts—and honestly, everything was on point.

The chicken was crispy and flavorful, the fish was golden and flaky, and the shrimp had that perfect crunch. The livers were seasoned just right (hard to find!), and all the sides were fresh and tasty. I especially loved the poppers and mushrooms—so good! Even the dessert was a win.
