BE AWARE⚠️ ORDER HACK⚠️ When ordering MudBug Chicken Strip, Fried Shrimp or Fried Basa Baskets There is a "Kids" and "Adult" Price. The biggest issue with these prices is that you get the exact same amount of food. NEVER ORDER the "Adult" Price Point!!!!! Always order the "Kids" Price!!! I called MudBug to clarify this and the "Employee" point blank said, That is Chris Jones "Owners" decision. It's mind-blowing 🤯 to me. At any other restaurant the when Ordering an Adult Meal the portion is bigger than the Kids Version. NOT the case @MudBug... I've shared a picture of the Chicken Strip Adult Meal that is identical to MudBug Website!! I forgot to snap a pic of the other baskets.. AGAIN...... You pay $4.50 or $8.55 for the exact same amount of food. Remember to never order the "Adult" Price on ANY of the baskets!! ALWAYS order the "Kids Price" due to the fact you get the EXACT same amount of food... All around the portion sizes have went down and Prices Increased... Sad part is that ALL of their food is stored FROZEN!!! With increased prices like that you would think something would be remotely Fresh.... More stars when the increased pricing on all food matches the Quality and Portion received🤙

Mudbug's offers a mouth-watering selection of too-big-to-finish sandwiches. We tried the shrimp po' boy and the blue crab cake po' boy, and both were filling, warm, and delicious. Unfortunately, the crab cake started out better than it ended; try as I might, it is such a large and sloppy beast that despite my best efforts at eating it like a sandwich, it ended up a pulpy mess by the end that was far less appetizing. It was delicious however, warm, gooey, and with a mild flavor, I would just recommend eating it with a knife and a fork. The shrimp option was also good, and the firmer texture and crunch of the shrimp breading ultimately made it our preferred choice overall. I would also advise asking for some hot sauce to go, we didn't, but I personally think either could have benefitted from some additional spice to liven up a surprisingly mild meal. The service was reasonably paced, and we were even given complementary samples of gumbo and jambalaya, which both tasted like gumbo and jambalaya, it that's your kind of thing.

So the first time I had this place I was really impressed , today though they just made me feel like I'm going to be sick. I ordered a bacon wrapped shrimp po'boy and it looked nice until I bit into the sandwich. At first I was so excited to eat this I kind of ignored the very odd texture, so of course I kept eating . With every bite there was this thought of "this is a bit off" finally I stop, look at the shrimp and see that the bacon is flat out under cooked, like really under cooked like unedible and I had been eating it. The shrimp was very inconsistent tbh, while I can tell it was frozen shrimp I can also tell some of it wasn't as done as others. So here I am just have eaten borderline raw bacon and undercooked shrimp. I don't think I'll be coming back. maybe it's a fluke but it's not something that I'm willing to give another chance too. Sad thing is that I ate prolly 4 before I really was like this can't be right. This isn't how bacon should be served

I lived in Baton Rouge for three years and miss it terribly. I've come to Mudbug numerous times but chose today to write a review based on the soft shelled crab special. The food came scorching hot---which is a plus. The soft shell crab was perfectly fried (it wasn't thick with batter but almost akin to a light tempura) and with subtle seasoning. Nothing screamed "cajun" to me on the menu, but the flavor profiles/textures work for Midwestern palates. The olive tapenade was a 10/10. I could eat the ramekin it came in and wish there was more. Its acidity added a perfect zing to the slaw---which largely is unflavored. When you eat here, you have the option to sub rice and I highly suggest it. Each time, the rice has been perfectly cooked. If you order bread, the "cajun" flavor completely disappears because it's too heavy.

Editing my review: I still am a regular here but am very disappointed and think, very sadly, I made my last visit last week. For the past half year, portions (rice, slaw, aioli, crabs) have been decreasing. Yet the polenta mound is getting bigger. I may have received a tablespoon of slaw the last ten visits. A table next to me even went up to the counter two visits ago and asked to have more on their plate. Once, the slaw was even forgotten. The aioli is an .85 cent uncharge for an extra. The extra I received was almost 1/2 full and I ordered an extra because the 1st was half-full. I understand restaurants have a 90% closure rate---coupled with the times we have now---I know things must be very, very difficult. But just like with the hospitality industry, my money has tightened too. I'm opting to seek VALUE and quality elsewhere...because I still believe value and quality can exist together. Such a shame because there is a deep lack of...

I've had the privilege of knowing about this gem ever since moving to live off vivion road just 3 minutes away. I've spoken highly to most everyone I know that loves seafood/good food to come and pay Mudbug a visit ASAP.

Every time. Every SINGLE time I order food and take it home it's an impeccable experience. The flavors and textures of all the seafood dishes are quite literally to die for; I almost always take my food to go so I'm consistently missing on the eaten fresh experience but I digress, eating it 15-20 minutes later, if you ABSOLUTELY have to drive home to eat then it's just as worth the trip. ESPECIALLY if you get one of their full sides. Be it the red beans and rice, seafood gumbo, or that DAMN good Jambi, you'll be satisfied (I would most certainly HOPE YOU WOULD given portion sizes)*.

A single sandwich (regardless of what the order is) equals out to more than enough food for two, especially if another side dish is included. Prices of everything are increasing and we all are aware, I would HOPE people's expectations are within reason relative to events recently associated with the increase in food price, and it's not the organizations fault. I feel price on everything are fair for what we get, and I feel like I'm considered when a special is thought of.

This is a true to the book soul food/po' boy spot. Maybe I'm taking some excessive liberties by calling it soul food, but after every po' boy I eat from Mudbug; my own soul feels full.

It's really REALLY good food guys,...

I wanted to try this place as I’ve followed them for a few years. Finally got a job that required me to be in the area so I headed over…. Man what a roller coaster!!

When I first pulled up a saw the sign that said Mudbugs. But looking through the glass I saw racks of clothing ….. did they go out of business? Thrift store take its place? Argh… let’s go inside and find out . Nope , just the first 15 feet dedicated to clothing sales, completely unrelated to any of the food, no logo clothing or anything , just total randomness. Okkkkk….

Got ready to order and was told they were cooking rice and 10-15 minute wait…. During lunch time … man I got places to be , but I done drove this far , guess we will wait…

Ordered the Reuben poboy and a jambalaya…

The sandwich arrived and it was an odd mix of great flavor and absolutely soggy bread. Had to completely deconstruct to eat it. Bread was just a mushy mess… but the meat and slaw were solid and flavorful… moving onward….

The jambalaya - negative 10 …. Absolutely tasted like stale fish , not a clean seafood flavor as I’ve had many other places.

It was Inedible… waste of my money…

All in all, just a 4/10 experience. I wanted to like this place so much after all I’ve seen them post on FB and wanted so much to have a reason to return. But it’s...
