The reviews are very misleading. Decided to try it out for lunch break. This was our first time there. We get there and sit down. The waitress took forever to take our drink order and we had to get our own menus. Then it took forever to get our order taken. To be fair the waitress did not seem to know what she was doing. I actually felt super bad for her. It also seem like they were short handed. Once our order was taken we did get our food fairly quickly. The food was not good at all. The rice was mushy and watery. Not authentic Mexican food. When we finished we waited before going up to pay for our meal because they were busy. Once at the register we waited another while but we were understanding since they were busy and short handed. I finally got the waitress attention to let her know we wanted to pay for our order. She went to get the manager. While waiting on him. The waitress opens the bag of tortillas and grabs the tortillas with her hands. We did not see her wash her hands. Mind you she was taking orders, grabbing pens and taking food out. By far the worst experience. Do...
Read moreOne of those little family owned joints that doesn't have a lot of frills but do it right. We came here originally because they make the best flour tortillas in Kansas City and you can pick them up piping hot in the mornings. Best thing is you can get a squeeze bottle of butter to put directly on a "FRESH" tortilla, give it a little roll and snack on it like you were at grandma's house. We usually pick up 10 dozen and take them back to freeze in ziplock gallon bags.
The other thing is they make a pretty good breakfast too boot, but it isn't anything fancy and leans more along what you would make at home; only better. My favorite is to wander in about 9-10am, get a cup of fresh coffee, which is surprisingly good, and have a couple tortillas while I am waiting for my breakfast. Family and I chat with the locals and just...
Read moreWell I when in to purchase some tortillas and hot sauce. It took at least 10 minutes before someone asked what I needed. Then that person left me standing in the register area. A second person asked me what I needed. Then left. Finally the person cooking the tortillas came up and asked what I needed I then repeated the same as 2 other times. He then got my request and charged me. So I paid and asked my wife to get the order. And as I was leaving I heard the gentleman say to the person behind us. I just wanted them to leave. I guess since the parents are gone the person with a beard is not used to customer service!! I hope San Antonio and el pollo Rey and reynas drives them out of business. Schedule your employees at peak times. And learn that people are the best to make you successful....
