The thought that went through my head after my first bite was an adult version of amaze-balls. I got a couple of items to try. That first bite was of their beef pho. Not to long ago, I tried the brisket pho at Big Bowl Pho, which I think may have had slightly better beef, but both of these phos were so good. I plan on going back to both until I can get this right. This is going to be an awesome challenge. If you have never had pho before and plan on getting it to go, let the restaurant know since they should give you some instructions on combining the ingredients when you get home. It isn't hard, but can be a little intimidating. I also wanted to try one of their sandwiches. The woman taking my order said that their brazed pork was their most popular. I'm in love with their sandwich. I think for some smaller sized people, this is a perfect sized sandwich, but if you are bigger, maybe consider an appetizer to go with. I will warn you that if you get a sandwich with a bowl of pho, you will eat yourself miserable: with flavors this good, it will be hard to stop. Not everything was perfect. Dare I say that the spring roll was too big, thus one of the reasons it was difficult to eat. The other reason was for the long ingredients (i.e. cilantro, carrots, etc). As you bite and pull, a good chunk of the spring roll in your hand pulls apart as you try to scissor your teeth to cut the strands. I'm glad I only got one to try and I might have liked it better with a peanut sauce than what I got, but this is still not enough to give them less than 5 stars. I would have also liked to see some of the tables wiped down. I would not call this a romantic restaurant, but it is nice and they have done a good job in...
Read moreA family member of mind introduced me to your pork belly sandwich and it was amazing, since then i have been going atleast once or twice a week and recently ive been kind of disappointed especially with the sandwich. The service for me is always great, but the sandwich has been a little lackluster for me. I dont know when, but pretty recently they started putting jalopenos in there sandwiches which originally was either cucumber or somthing else because there extremely spicy. Like a literal jalopeno cut in half in the sandwich. Also they have been kind of dry, personally a sandwich is ten times better when its dripping in the oil. And whatever sauce they put ok the sandwich is to die for, but it seems they have been skimping out on it. I really hope that the quality of the sandwiches get better because i love there sandwiches.
Edit: i am happy to say that i went to bun me phan again and the pork belly sandwich was delicious, i simply asked for no jalopenos and instead got cucumbers which is very nice. The sandwich was dripping and i was loving it. Also did you guys get new staff, i saw saw new employees that ive never seen before. Service was still great and i will...
Read moreI wish I would have given a review before this place changed ownership, because then it would have 5 stars in every category. Unfortunately, under new ownership, this place has not lived up to the standards that were held by the previous owners. I have been several times since the ownership changes and Everything about this place is different now. The menu, the portions, and the taste. I understand the switch in ownership but it is really a shame that this place does not feel like the old Bun Mee Phan at all. After these last couple of experiences, I do not think it will ever be as good as Bun Mee Phan. I am glad I got to savor Bun Mee Phan’s menu, and feel bad for all those who did not get a chance. If I won the lottery, I would give the Bun Mee Phan family EVERYTHING to come back and make more food.
Please understand the food here is not bad, it just does NOT stand out as it used to before and that is my problem. It really is just kind of mid now. Still, I wish goodluck to the new ownership. ill probably check it out in the future again but I am not as excited about this place as it used to be. (Understanding this was probably my fav spot in KC for...
