We usually go to Ritter’s for frozen custard, but we decided to try Andy’s as we live right in the middle of the two. I ordered 5 different desserts, and out of the 5, only the cookie butter one actually tasted good. The vanilla scoop in a cone was so bland almost like unsweetened cool whip with frozen custard texture, and the waffle cone was slightly salty and stale. The chocolate had a chocolate flavor but also lacked sweetness. The mint chocolate chip was like vanilla and chocolate pieces and the slightest mint after taste. I also could not order a single scoop of the mint chocolate chip for my 3 year old because “we can only do vanilla or chocolate in a single scoop.” They also don’t offer it in a half pint (which I was really contemplating buying the 6 pack to get a smaller portion of the flavor - but thank goodness I didn’t!) or any other way except as a concrete with a mix in or a pint. I picked cherry as the mix in, and he got 1 cherry on top. I would hope they’d use more than 1 if it was truly a mix in. Also, what is the reasoning behind having flavors that you cannot order as a scoop? I don’t understand why you’d offer it only to have limited options of enjoying it. The boot daddy and the concretes we ordered were melty around the top edges making them messy. I’m glad we didn’t go through the drive thru as I saw someone pulling out of the drive thru holding her cup out of her window shaking her head as it was melting. Only one of us finished our ice cream (the single scoop of chocolate in a cup which they initially gave me in vanilla incorrectly), so we’ll be going back to Ritter’s from now on. Not even the free dessert in my app (that I downloaded while standing in line) makes me want to come back. I’m guessing this place is only busy because Ritter’s closes for a couple of weeks during the holidays. Hopefully, they are still tweaking and improve their flavors since they’re...
Read moreWhile I love this place and will continue to come here, I really would like to see a managerial presence from time to time. All I ever see is a bunch of young teenagers and adults playing around. They all have nasty aprons on and even dirty fronts of their pants where ice cream is all over them. Please Managers, teach your employees how to keep a clean apron, act appropriately in the store (which is NOT a playground) and how to conduct themselves as employees not teenagers at school for fun.
Follow up.... I went back the other day and the guy at the front window had the nastiest apron I have ever seen yet. His fingers were covered in ice cream and chocolate. He was using his hands to give out the cups of ice cream and napkins. I walked up, after watching for a while, and asked him to please go wash his hands. They were FILTHY!! He said it was because he was running the counter and two other positions at the same time. There is NO REASON WHATSOEVER to have an apron that dirty and dirty hands too! He was grabbing the napkins and giving them to customers with his DIRTY hands. That is nasty folks.
This place really needs some management on-site. Managers that care about this business. I really like this place but when it stays so dirty, I can't imagine it will be here long.
I really question...
Read moreCame here for the first time and built my own concrete—went with espresso and waffle cone pieces. The menu being laid out was a nice touch, gave me time to really take it in without feeling rushed, which I appreciated on a first visit. That said, the pricing felt unclear. I didn’t really know how much each topping cost or what I was being charged for exactly. Same with the cup sizes—signs mentioned $1 for medium, $3 for large, but it wasn’t super clear what that was based on.
Ordering was smooth and quick, but it threw me off a bit not getting a number or receipt. With the music being loud, I wasn’t sure if my order was up or someone else’s. The vibe inside was alright, but the floor definitely needed a clean—it takes away from the experience when you’re eating ice cream and looking down at sticky spots.
There are six benches and two bathrooms, but seating feels limited. Honestly feels like a spot meant more for drive-thru than dine-in. I might swing by again at night to see if the atmosphere feels...
