Tacos El Grande (Food Truck) — Restaurant in Katy

I live right across from this taco truck and I’ve been going here since I moved on this side almost 2 years ago. It was 2 new guys there & I told my son to walk there and get me a noodle bowl with beef.

He came back with the wrong kind of meat so I walked back in the cold & very sick to fix the order. The guy didn’t speak English, he told me we ordered fajitas which wasn’t true and he overcharged us by $2. I gave him back the bowl and told him what I wanted & he threw $12 cash at me and told me to never come back. He called his boss and I actually explained everything to the boss and he fixed the issue. The guy took the money back but I had to tell him that he didn’t refund my card so I would keep the cash. He gave me back the money and they fixed the bowl with the right kind of meat. I will never ever ever ever eat at this truck again and I’ve told alot of my neighbors about my experience with this truck. Imagine, you cheat me out of money, don’t speak English and pissed at me about it and then try to tell me to never come back. The owner was nice to me and calmed the situation down but they’ll never get my money again. I always send out of towners to this truck but never again!! Those 2 guys were horribly unprofessional. This place was on fire (Delicious)!!! The consommé gives the entire taco its flavor, so don't leave without it. If you never have had consommé and have second thoughts, try it, you won't regret it.

This is definitely not weight watchers approved, but if you ever have a cheat day, go for it.

I reccomend the quesitacos, they were my favorite because the saltiness of the cheese gives the meat added flavor.

NOW here comes the big question.....how do I eat this. I found three ways of eating this consommé taco.

You could pour the consommé over the entire taco. This method could be a little messy if you aren't careful because the consommé drips from the back of the taco.

You could also dunk the front taco into the consommé and take a bite over the consommé container they provide.

My favorite way of enjoying this delicious combination is to take a bite of the taco followed by a sip of the consommé. I prefer this method because you get to taste the contrasting flavors of the meat before tasting the mouthwatering (pun intended) flavors of the consommé, and this method is also the cleanest.

If you are lucky enough to have some consommé left, dont waist it. Drink it. Think of it as taking one final shot of tequila.

The entrance - Food truck on the side of a Chevron off Franz Rd in Katy, TX. 2 wooden picnic tables if you want to eat there.

The First Vibe - Great! Clean! Backs up to a neighborhood. We did notice upon arrival that it is ONLY CASH. Luckily, there was a gas station with an atm - $2 service fee.

Time 2 table - we got this to go - so roughly 10 mins.

Menu - simple and small. What to get? Quesatacos with the consome. OMG. The consome is a game changer.

Server - no server but the man at the window took our oder.

Drinks - they have topo and glass bottled sodas

Food - see photos! Larger portions than I thought. I definitely had leftover tacos the next day

No dessert

Management - Management takes all the credit for the process - service was great and quick. No issues.

Cleanliness - Clean. I think some food trucks can get a bad rap for not being clean. But the area surrounding the truck and the quality of our food can attribute to the cleanliness.

Def coming back. New go-to food truck spot for birria tacos and consome.
