This was our first visit to their location and it was a real experience. I believe this location used to be the Poipu Golf Course restaurant because we had dined here for breakfast on our previous vacation trips to Poipu. We ordered two of the Shoyu Tarami Poke bowls with Plantation iced tea. Our meals were delivered by their robot, who greeted us with an "Aloha" and wished us an enjoyable meal. Well, the robot did deliver the meals, but a server picked meals from the robot and placed our meals on the table. Then the robot greeted us and then articulated a desire that we enjoy our meal. Wow, that was something unexpected. The dining area is open but it was still conducive to a conversation, which in our case now included the meal and the robot. So now while ate we also monitored the robot as it delivered more meals and greeted more customers, fully expecting a song or a dance. The Poke was excellent, the Plantation tea (pineapple juice mixed with unsweetened black iced tea) was also refreshing. Our meal was expensive but with lunch and a show, well worth...
Read moreWe were looking forward to trying the poke here after reading the reviews and seeing the high rating. The reality was a major disappointment. I got the furikake poke ($16) and my son got the shrimp tempura kids dish ($13). The poke came out beautifully presented but it was overly salty and spicy from the spicy aioli and teriyaki sauce drizzle. The intense saltiness would have been fine with more rice to balance out the flavors. Instead, the dish comes with one small scoop of rice. When I asked for a small bit of additional rice to finish the poke, the owner was extremely rude and kept insisting on charging $4 for a small scoop of rice and being defensive about how no one had ever said that the poke was overly salty. She eventually did provide a scoop of rice but the interaction was extremely ungracious and rude and curdled my appetite. After the rude treatment by the owner, we left without finishing our dishes. The staff, on the other hand, were lovely and polite.
Unfortunately, we will not be coming back to this restaurant and would advise others to...
Read moreMy husband and I decided to eat here based on the average star rating (4.7!) when searching for good poke in Kauai on google. This place has an identity crisis. It’s now located on a golf course (appears it used to be a food truck based on other review photos). It seems as if they are still trying to operate like a food truck, but in an established building. It is self service. You order at the counter and they will bring food out (in to-go containers) or call your name. The room they are located in feels like an event venue room, and it overlooks the golf course. It’s a very confusing concept. Food was good, but nothing to rave about. I got the plantation poke, my husband got the Fried Ahi Katsu. I’ve had just as good or better poke elsewhere and my husband’s meal didn’t seem freshly prepared. Service was quick, but trying to fuse a fancy establishment with a food truck...
