During our visit to Kenji Burger in Lihue, we tried a variety of dishes, including the Japanese Burrito ($12.00+), Furikake Fries, Truffle Burger, and Grilled Cheese.
The Japanese Burrito was a creative blend of spicy tuna, shrimp tempura, crab meat, cucumber, and avocado, drizzled with unagi sauce and spicy aioli. It was packed with flavor and texture but didnât quite stand out as weâd hoped. The Furikake Fries, topped with ponzu aioli, teriyaki sauce, and furikake seasoning, were unique and enjoyable, offering a nice fusion twist. The Truffle Burger impressed with its use of 100% Kauai grass-fed beef, truffle aioli, Swiss cheese, and Japanese mushrooms, but it wasnât as memorable as we expected. The Grilled Cheese on a brioche bun was a classic option, paired with crispy French fries, and was well-prepared but not particularly extraordinary.
The atmosphere at Kenji Burger was relaxed and inviting, making it a pleasant place to dine. The staff were friendly and attentive, which added to the overall positive experience. While we enjoyed our meal and the ambiance, we felt the food, though good, didnât exceed our expectations given the hype surrounding the restaurant.
Weâd recommend Kenji Burger for its creative menu and friendly service, but perhaps with tempered...
Read moreWent there for lunch, it was a bit crowded. Wait time to sit was about 5 minutes. We ordered our food and waited about 10-15 minutes for it. Observed the environment and noticed that they had one (1) hostess and one (1) waitress. Waitress was also the table busser. So we were prepared to wait. Our waitress, although friendly and busy, wasn't able to fill our water, she needed to be asked in order for it to be refilled.
Our food was delicious but the patty was a bit dry. If not for the truffle aioli sauce, gooey cheese, and mushrooms it wouldn't have tasted as good đ as it did. The furikake fries đ was also delicious but I wouldn't pair it with the truffle burger, because it was a contrast to it. Furikake fries had furikake flakes, sesame seeds, teriyaki and mayo sauce drizzled on it. For me plain fries would've been good enough. The fried chicken was ok, nothing special about that.
I'm not dissing their food just being honest, to each his/her opinion. Next time I go back I'll try their seafood burritos and other non-burger items.
Giving this place 4 stars because of waitress. Not once did she come to check on us after we were served, had to call her to get more water, however she did pretty good working the dining area by herself. So kudos to...
Read moreWe ordered two burgers and the Furikake Fries. The Hapa Burger had a good pineapple, Sriracha slaw in it that was tasty and not too sweet. Also the bacon was nice and crispy, which was is what I look for. The Kenji Burger was a teriyaki burger with condiments. The flavors were good and melted together nicely. We also got the furikake fries that went well with the burgers. All the food was pretty good and we enjoyed them.
Note that everything was ala carte, burgers did not come with fries. You need to order them separately and they come in a regular side dish.
We went into to the restaurant to sit down and eat. Server took our orders in a timely fashion and the food did not take long to get to us. We did not see the server until we got the checks. Did not refill drinks or waters while we were there. Also was not asked how we liked the burgers, they came medium done. Not a big deal, the flavors were still great, but I do like them a little more well done.
We will probably be back on another trip and visit...
