Verde Restaurant: Lihue's Hidden Gem with Fresh Flavors!
Verde Restaurant in Lihue deserves all 5 stars! The food was incredible - fresh, flavorful, and high-quality. While the portion sizes might seem a bit on the smaller side at first glance, the quality absolutely makes up for it.
One thing that truly elevates their dishes is their homemade tortillas. They make a huge difference in taste and texture! Everything is made with super fresh ingredients, and you can really taste the difference.
For a refreshing twist, try their farm-fresh tea made with 100% Kauai-grown ingredients. It's a delicious and unique way to experience the local flavors. I had the Furikake Mahi-Mahi burrito, and it was amazing! It had a touch of sweetness that perfectly complemented the savory flavors. They also have a great selection of vegetarian options, so there's something for everyone. For a cool and creamy treat, don't miss their horchata - it's the perfect way to end your meal.
The air conditioning was a lifesaver on a hot day, keeping the restaurant at a nice cool temperature. Overall, Verde offered a fantastic dining experience. If you're looking for fresh, flavorful food made with local ingredients,...
Read moreFrom the food to the decor the restaurant feels like it was created out of a white girls Pinterest. Service was slow and sluggish. The Natchos were the first sign of danger at our table. Coming out sad and deflated without even a care to make a proper Natcho sauce (They just melted shredded cheese mircowave style.) The Cotija cheese tastes store bought and funky and the street corn is visibly from a can, green in color. The Furikake Tacos are drenched in over powering sauce that besmirches the subtle and simple Mexican taco. The Garlic Shrimp taco has a terrible protein to filling ratio and is just a disguised low effort salad on tortilla. The Carne Adovada Burrito has a fried filling (little potatoes) that gives off a foul taste. The Cali burrito is so bland and disappointing you might as well go to chipotle: cheaper, and more flavor. The stacked enchilada is not as impressive as it sounds, arriving soggy and bland. The Ube churro fries is the one redeeming factor. Don’t expect a traditional churro it is more a fried tube with a light Ube dipping sauce. Nevertheless it is airy and very pleasant to eat. Please save your money, time and stomachs save Mexican for...
Read moreVery disapointing all around. The staff was completely overwhelmed and took forever to seat us; to take our orders and then to serve us our drinks and food which came to our table before the drinks. When we mentioned this fact the wait staff whisked our food away so quickly we had no time to object and sadly it wasn't returned until well after our drinks finally arrived and much to no ones surprise was now cold. The flavor of EVERY dish was cumin foward. I mean this whole taste experience was an exercise in the use of cumin. From the al pastor chicken to the carne pork adovada and even the refried beans and spanish rice. The first and last bites of every dish were cumin and cumin, in that order. Except the churro fies. Those were yummy and not a note of cumin! Don't get me wrong, cumin has it's place but not so much that you are unable to discern any other ingredient. I'm hoping our experience was a kitchen accident and not the...
