Pat’s Taqueria was one of the most disappointing food experiences I’ve ever had in Kauai. There was absolutely no Aloha here — the staff behaved as though serving customers was a burden and we were doing them a favor by showing up. The prices were shockingly high, which could have been acceptable given the prime Hanalei location, if the food or service was worth it. Unfortunately, neither was.
We ordered a vegetarian quesadilla and were completely baffled to find it stuffed with lettuce and salad greens. Who puts salad inside a quesadilla, let alone charges $15 for it? Not only did it taste terrible, but it felt like a careless attempt at food. On top of that, the bottled Jarritos were $4 each — not only overpriced, but served warm, which added to the frustration.
This place comes across as a cash grab, with zero effort made toward food quality or customer care. The staff don’t crack a smile — maybe that’s another fee they intend to charge.
Bottom line: avoid this place unless you have no other option whatsoever. Even then, you’d be better off finding anywhere else to...
Read moreThis is quite possibly the worst taco I've ever had. Being unsure of exactly how big they would be we ordered three: one fish for each and split the pork. Biting into the tortilla was like biting into an oily towel. The fish was as bland as it could be and the portion size for $6 was a joke. Do not skip the hot sauce bottle if you try these out, you will need every drop to get some flavor in your mouth. Note, on the size side, the tacos are served in 6" tortillas.
The pork had a little more flavor but was still a greasy mess of a taco. Not exactly what I want when I'm out in the sun, ya know?
There is only one picnic table so plan to take the grub with you home or back to the beach.
I will say, the burritos I saw looked much better so maybe that's a better option. I won't be finding...
