The Musubi Truck Koloa — Restaurant in Kauai

This is a food truck right behind Fathom Five Dive. I had heard a fellow diver mentioning it to the staff on Fathom Five dive the day before as I had just tried out their operation. So I had to try it out because he raved about the Ahi Katsu.

There was a small line of people waiting for their order as well as a constant flow of people ordering. I ordered the Ahi Katsu as a meal with a drink and tots.

As in Hawaii there are free roaming chickens so be prepared as you are eating outside and one of them may get ballsy. As I have posted. This one decided to join me as I was eating alone. All the others around watching this little chicken get into my box of taters. As well as my Ahi Katsu. This bugger was a quick one.

At the end I gave it a tater tot 🤦🏻‍♂️. It did give free entertainment, lunch and a show for free.

The owner is super friendly and seems to know all the people and many are return customers. Not surprised as it was delicious and filling.

I would mark this as a go and try it kind of food. You won’t be disappointed, but if you don’t like annoying chickens....

Definitely recommend this place for anyone visiting Kauai! I was visiting with some friends and ordered a little bit of everything and it was absolutely delicious. Their poke was fresh and tasty and the musubi’s are huge! Way bigger and not wrapped in melting plastic like at the grocery stores.

We went in the afternoon but they also have breakfast options and great options for kids. We got to speak to the owners who are super friendly and they have a program where you can “pay it forward” with their Keiki Meals which are discounted meals donated to local children in need.

My personal favorite was the poke and katsu Musubi and our group raved about the spam and kalbi musubi’s as well.

Totally recommend this food truck! This is probably one of the best food we got in Kauai. We were so excited, hungry, and first look & bite were amazing that we forgot to take picture of the food 🤦🏻‍♀️ Sorry guys! Haha we got the Lifeguard Bento, which essentially had everything they specialized on: their legendary Deep Fried Spam Musubi, Spicy Poke (you can pick Local/Spicy Poke), Truffle Tots (you can pick Crispy/Truffle Tots). Deep Fried Spam Musubi was sooo tasty, Spicy Poke was fresh with perfect amount of sauce, Truffle Tots was good with perfect amount of truffle. It was a perfect and delicious bento!
