Imagine my surprise when we both actually enjoyed our time at the sushi bar. Last time we were here, over 3 years ago, we were less than impressed.
Thuy wanted sushi. I wanted to walk. This does not leave many options when you live in Keller. I remembered Samurai Bistro, what I did not remember was my last (yelp) review. If I had read it first, we might have passed on sushi in Keller. I'm glad we didn't.
We arrived around 8PM on a Sunday night. The place was dead. No cars in the lot. Walk in. One person is sitting at the sushi bar (small, but nice). I get back from washing my hands and the person has left. Now it's just Thuy and me, in the entire place.
We looked over the sushi menu and decided on a Dallas Roll, some unagi, a white tuna (sushi) and a salmon (sushi). During the food we order, we also get a freebie, crab salad inside a piece of rolled cucumber. Everything was very tasty. All hits, no misses.
Through our meal were heard much Japanese being spoken, which was a both a surprise and a delight. Knowing there are actual Japanese-speaking people working gave me a bit of extra respect for the place. Domo Arigato!
Thuy and I were pleased with our meal, and plan to be back for some of the specials: $1 sushi, $1 sake on Thursday night. Wednesday is $1 house wine night. Monday is $3 & $5 sushi rolls and $3 sushi & sashimi. Sunday is $35 dinner for two (chicken and shrimp).
Thankfully no smell of bleach, until we started leaving as that's when they started washing and scraping down the...
Read moreIf I could give this place 0 stars I would. Ordered chicken and fried rice Hibachi for the kid I'm watching and I got shrimp hibachi. They didn't bring out his food and insisted that what he ordered was chicken friend rice and that's different then the hibachi. When I said something to the server she got an attitude with me and insisted that we just didn't order correctly. I gave the kid half of my food as his food didn't show up until 5 mins before they dropped the checks. When his food finally arrived there were noodles instead of rice and all the server could tell me was the price was the same so its ok... Its not what we ordered and he didn't eat it. When asked to take it off she refused, I paid the bill but will be contacting my bank Monday morning. When I spoke with the manager she too had an attitude and made faces while I explained what the problem. The people at our table also tried several times to explain the situation bc clearly I wasn't explaining it in a manner that she understood. With 5 different people tell you the same thing you would think the manager would offer a solution, but no such luck.
As a server I ALWAYS tip at min 30% bc there are tables that don't tip at all or don't tip enough, but with this instance I didn't tip anything. The party that was at the table with us also refused to tip as the server had such a horrible attitude and the manager was no better.
Needless to say I have no interest...
Read moreI haven’t been here in a few years so we decided to try it again since my daughter wanted Hibachi for her Bday dinner. It’s August and we are in 100 degree temps, so walking inside was a big surprise when we realized the inside was as hot as outside. I was hoping it was due to the fact we were waiting to be seated and standing right at the front door. Nope. It was miserably hot the entire meal. It didn’t help that we are sitting by a hot skillet either. There was some relief when the chef turned on the return vent and began to cook, but as I looked around everyone looked miserable and tower fans were in every corner. The owners are so kind, but service was a little lacking and we had to keep asking for more ice and drinks as we were so hot and thirsty. They need a new HVAC system or something! I’m sorry but we will not be back. It was quite a disappointment to attend a higher priced meal and be that miserable. The other couple at our table voiced the same. They said they had come a few months ago and had the same experience so it’s apparent nothing has changed....
