On our recent visit, I dined with my wife and our 2.5-year-old son — a young but discerning food enthusiast in his own right. We sampled a trio of Southern comfort staples: fried fish, shrimp, and wings. Each dish offered a well-balanced flavor profile that’s rare in the casual fried fare category — richly seasoned, yet refreshingly light on salt. A delicate crisp on the outside gave way to moist, tender meat within. The wings had a gentle kick without overpowering, and the shrimp were particularly impressive: firm, sweet, and perfectly cooked.
Perhaps the best testament to the quality? Our toddler devoured three shrimp, half a fillet of fish, and two whole wings — no coaxing required. In a world where toddlers often reject what they don’t love, that’s high praise.
Equally worth noting is the restaurant’s expanded hours. Open early for breakfast and serving late into the evening, Blue Hook is thoughtfully catering to both early risers and the late-night Kenner crowd.

Read moreOrdered the Daily Special (Fish, Wings, & Fries). The "whole wings" were extremely small/low quality chicken. I've never seen whole wings that small. My fish wasnt catfish which was my mistake for assuming it would be instead of the fish I received and could not finish. If you want catfish if doesnt come in the daily special just "fish". Not sure what kind. Last but not least the only thing I could finish were my fries simply because I seasoned them myself. I was very disappointed. Not only did I see rave reviews but I was looking forward to supporting a new local business but I will not be coming back. Wasted my money on mystery fish and...
