Popeye's on Barret Pkwy in Kennesaw is SO, SO much better than any metro ATL Popeyes because of 4 employees in particular -- Jasmine, Sincere, and Blake and Vincent. They're attention to detail is remarkable. My mother had a franchised restaurant while I was a young adult (not Popeyes), and she would have been absolutely delighted to have Jasmine, Sincere Blake, and Vincent running things. I honestly cannot say enough great things about this location and all of their employees, I am always enthusiatically greeted when I arrive, and even on the nights that I arrive half an hour or even less before closing, the chicken I receive is fresh... I'd much rather wait 8 minutes for fresh chicken to finish cooking over having this or any restaurant serve dried-out chicken that's been under heat lamp for an hour or more. .. local competitors have served me previously cooked and dried out chicken in the mid afternoon and the last hour before closing. I appreciate that the employees tell me that there's going to be, say a 5 minute wait to cook a fresh filet over giving me no time and just telling me to wait ...or worse hand me a rock hard chicken sandwich filet. I've been here dozens of times, and not once has there been more than a 60 second wait that they didn't tell me about when I placed my order. A lot of franchise owners will instruct their employees to disregard the company's policy on how long cooked food can sit under the heat before tossing and have them serve food well past its prime to save on food costs. Call me crazy, but I'll happily wait a few additional minutes to get freshly fried chicken. We've all been to those fast food restaurants that have employees who seem to operate on a permanent "slow-mode", including many Popeye's. But, whoever does the hiring and determines how these employees are treated has found a winning formula. Having grown up in the world of franchised restaurants, there has to be a combination of things this owner is doing perfectly. His employee retention rate must be far above average because I've been eating here 2+3 times a month for 16-18 months, and several of the same employees have been here that entire time. It really is a testament to, "If you treat your employees as a valuable asset, your employees will treat your customers in the same way.*
They are the only Popeyes that I don't have to double check my order before leaving to make sure everything ordered was included. They don't even forget the sauces. This one location has people who are professionals and are truly customer-service oriented. Bravo to this franchise owner for seeing talent and hiring that talent!
However, it's not all positive... I've had their new chocolate chip biscuit with icing three times, and the only thing positive I can say about it is the icing/glaze is tasty... The ultra-mini bits of chocolate baked into the biscuits tastes, to me, like fragments of crushed Count Chockula cereal or chocolate Rice Krispies. . I think a great use of the chains' biscuits would be to offer a strawberry shortcake with their normal biscuit base and topped with a few fresh strawberries in a glaze and a dollop of whipped cream. Popeye's has seemed to struggle in the desert/sweets area. They should think about redesigning their fried apple pie that belongs to the 1970s.... Because with their cinnamon sugar coating, it actually tastes great... but it's a fried apple pie. Desserts usually have a high markup, and it is surprising that they haven't seized upon this by at least offering mini beignets ... given their Cajun basis.
I almost forgot to mention their Mac n cheese -- Popeyes and Chick-fil-A have nearly identical Mac n cheese.... and are the only restaurants, fast food or otherwise, where I'll order MnC. Both seem to use real cheddar instead...
Read moreI was really hankering some good chicken, so I drove my friend and I drove out to our local Popeye’s in Crater Lake in Kennesaw, GA. We read instructions on the app and on the sign at the store, and both mentioned drive thru and no contact delivery. We ordered all of our food on the app and paid, then hopped in the drive thru line. After waiting 15 minutes, we reached the speaker and told them our order name and number, as instructed on the app. Within seconds, they responded “we cannot do drive thru mobile orders.” Based on their sign advertising outside, it said they in fact do no take out, and the app did not say this. We told them “your mobile app said we can do drive thru, that was the option I selected for pickup.” They were very rude about the whole situation, arguing and even not speaking to us through the speaker anymore. They insisted we had to come in, despite our wishes to not. We are currently caring for my 95 year old mom, who is very at risk for coronavirus. We had hoped to have a nice meal for us all, without any risk. Instead, I was forced to step inside the store and pick up my food. There are so many health risks associated with having to go inside and I am trying to keep my family healthy. Your business made this hard to achieve and I have to say I am very disappointed in the chain. After this experience, I am not sure I can support this company. I paid almost $40 for this meal, which was promised to be delivered safely. That is an extremely high amount for the kind of customer service I received today.
My friend who had to go inside the establishment also complained. He said that when he went inside, there were at least 20+ people crammed into the tiny lobby (which was half the size it normally was due to the dining room being closed). I know that is not regulation during a pandemic. And whenever people had a question, the cashiers were very rude and just ignored everybody. Once he got the food, we headed home. We had ordered 4 meals, enough for our family of 4. Upon arrival home, we realized we were missing 2 sides of green beans and a whole meal. Yes, you read that right, we were missing 4 whole pieces of chicken. We ended up having to split what few pieces of chicken we had received among ourselves, which led to everyone not having a full meal and still feeling hungry afterwards. My friend called corporate, where the customer service representative was very apologetic and offered a refund. It has been 2 months since then and we never received a refund.
Additionally, I also sent an email to their “contact us” email. The first email I sent said it was “undeliverable because their mailbox was full.” The second time I sent an email, to a different address I found, they responded with “I’m sorry for your poor experience, please come again.” Although it was our specific restaurant that had the problems, to contact corporate through 2 separate people in 2 different methods and not receive any compensation for our poor experience, I can say I will not be supporting this restaurant...
Read more08/17/2022: 6:00PM, doors locked, no signage explaining short staffed or no payroll money, nothing. Pulled up to speaker, sign stating soft drink machine broken (not the first time) The Order Marquee now Only has Coke, Doctor Pepper, Tea. No Diet Dr Pepper, Diet Coke, Sprite, Sprite Zero. I ordered the TV $6 PROMOTION of Butterfly Shrimp with side (mashed potatoes) and biscuit. I ordered mash and slaw as an extra side. I asked to order another count of just shrimp and was told I had to order another box No. I pulled around to pay and it was $9.21 and I thought they charged a lot for an extra side. She gave me the bag, I advised her the slaw was there but the potatoes were missing. Oh, were out of mashed potatoes, (6:15PM). No, you charged me $9.21 for the box and extra side and the Promotion on TV and the App say $6.00 Oh No, those are corporate promotions. Franchises don't have to honor those if they don't want to. My opinion is that This is The Second worst Franchise Popeyes store behind Cartersville. I have never been to Bakers Road Location. After 24 months of trying to give them business and they are almost always out of shrimp, no soft drinks, merchant card machine locked, out of wings, out of breast; it is My Opinion that This Franchise is Not solvent. That Popeyes Corporation should Pull the Franchise license and these jokers should close up shop. Prior Visit attempting to give them business, about 12 months ago: Pulled in the drive through lane at 11:50 today and my turn at the speaker was 12:45PM. I ordered 8 PC Shrimp to be told they had no shrimp. Polite but Mad. I ordered the spicey chicken sandwich and drove to pay at the window. The girl with some attitude and sniffles was NOT wearing gloves or a mask. She gave me my bag and credit card but no receipt. I tapped on the window, she came back, I asked for a receipt and she told me their receipt machine was not working. The last time that happened to me about 7 years ago with a debit card and the next day I was short $4,000.00. Pulled into a parking slot and called Popeye's Customer Service. Then opened the bag to eat the sandwich and the sauce must have heavy turmeric in it (I am guessing). I like turmeric in some foods but not sauces. It was terrible. Leaving the parking spot now 1:30PM and the line is still wrapped around the building at the same speed. Chicken sandwich going in trash can next door at QT. NASTY. BAD MANAGEMENT AT LEAST FROM...
