I stopped in for a late local breakfast on a Sunday because of the great reviews, and boy did they meet expectations! The place is clean and the staff was so friendly, and the food was perfect!! It really looks like they are busy all the time. They are only open from 7:00 am until 3:00 pm most days, and when I left, 80% of the booths were filled. I got the No 2. Eli's Slam Combo and it was perfect! The french toast was light and fluffy, the eggs were cooked perfectly, "over medium", and the bacon was crispy! Side car of orange juice and water, they didn't let my cup go empty. I can imagine the same if you got coffee. A 16$ breakfast, with tip, got out of there for 20$ for one person which is average for a sit down breakfast in this area. The staff was very attentive, and two or three people asked if I needed anything more while I was eating. That was so nice, especially with how busy it was getting. They actually could do with some more tables. They have the room for it. I look forward to trying their other dishes. This is a great local sit-down breakfast and lunch place, but I do believe you can get carry-out as well. Of course there is plenty of parking in the "Glenwood Crossing" parking lot, and plenty of good eats to be had at Eli's Cafe and...
Read moreI'll start by saying that I hate giving bad reviews, especially to local businesses. So I will give Eli's another shot, and do a rewrite of things are better.
The service was great and the server very nice, but the food was the epitome of mediocrity. But for $25 per plate breakfast, I expected more. The "feta" in my omelet was perfectly cubed, and cold, and it was completely missing the spinach. My hash browns were like rubber and my toast dry as the Atacama. The coffee however, was spectacular.
The food seemed like it was served after sitting under a heat lamp for 10 minutes, but our order came maybe 12 minutes after we ordered it. Soooo...
The price was shocking as well. I was either cheated, given the wrong bill, or this is now Kenosha's most pricey breakfast spot. We ordered buckwheat pancakes, 2 eggs, a Mediterranean omelet and two cups of coffee. With a 20% tip that came to $49.75. That's pricey for a good breakfast for 2. This was not good.
As I said I'll try here again. Once the sores from the dry toast on the roof of...
Read moreWhile I can’t speak to how the food tasted because no one ever took our order, I can share that the service was absolutely terrible. My husband and I just moved here and we’re excited to try a new pancake/breakfast place. We normally eat out two to three times per week and had hoped this would be our new go-to. They seated us and we waited. And waited. And waited. The wait staff walked past us at least three times. Then they seated someone behind us after a family of four left. After about five minutes, they asked the guy behind us if he wanted anything to drink. My husband and I looked at each other and walked out. One woman literally said she didn’t see us. It’s not a large facility and it’s not like we are invisible….. we won’t be back. We will spend our...
