La Scala Italian Restaurant — Restaurant in Key Biscayne

This might be the worst experience at a restaurant I have ever had. We made a reservation for dinner by calling the restaurant and getting a confirmed reservation on the phone, but when we arrived at the restaurant at the designated time, the manager told us they had no record of our reservation. We even showed him the evidence of us calling the restaurant on our phone, to no avail. Even though there were multiple open tables when we arrived, the manager refused to seat us, allegedly for the ridiculous reason that we had 5 people and he only had tables for 4 or 6 people. He didn’t say it, but I am certain he decided not to seat us because we were there with my 2.5 year old daughter. Even though she was perfectly quiet (more quiet than the other kids that were already eating in the restaurant), that didn’t seem to matter. The manager ultimately told us that we must have talked to the owner of the restaurant to make the reservation, but the owner was not at the restaurant, so there was nothing he could do. I honestly still can’t believe the way the manager handled the situation - I will never go back to this place, and I would encourage others to avoid this place...

Wow. Incredible service from start to finish. My wife and I arrived with a reservation and they were packed as it’s such a small but fantastic restaurant. We were seated outside to wait for an open table inside but the entire group of employees made it worth the wait. We started with burrata and a fried mozzarella special for appetizers which were both delicious. The entrees were also incredible. Chicken parm and chicken fettuccini. Both were to die for. Didn’t leave any room for dessert but that’s okay because the ambiance and service were everything we could ask...

La Scala in Key Biscayne is a small, quaint authentic Italian Bistro. There’s only about a dozen tables. Everything from the food, service and ambiance was amazing.
