I can report that prior complaints regarding the portions have had zero effect because this is still the case. There is a stereotype in Spain that people from Cataluña are stingy and unfortunately Kebo lives up to this reputation. I am originally from Spain and I am very familiar with the various Spanish venues in the Miami area and only Kebo has consistently had this problem in my experience. Therefore, it is not that their quality is exceedingly different from the other restaurants as the owner’s response implies, it is simply that the PORTIONS ARE RIDICULOUSLY SMALL. In my most recent visit, I placed a takeout order of risotto with scallops and four croquetas for almost $50. The bag felt unusually light upon leaving the restaurant, and when arriving home, we discovered that the food in the aluminum tray was hardly enough to cover the bottom, frankly not enough to feed a church mouse! This, together with the bill prompted my hungry husband to place a call to the restaurant to complain. The owner explained that there was a new chef who likely was not familiar with the dimensions of the tray and that he would speak to him. At that point he was about to hang up until my husband insisted on the issue to see what kind of rectification would be proposed and we were offered to remind the owner of this experience on our next visit to get perhaps some complimentary patatas. This obviously is not a comparable plate and probably one of the cheapest things on the menu, not to mention that this would imply paying the Key Biscayne toll for a few potatoes. As a result, we decided to remedy this last experience by leaving a review and we were surprised (but not too surprised) to see others experience this same situation over the years. We would also like to point out that many of the positive reviews are left by a local guide, so it makes us wonder whether those are real or purchased. We would also direct your attention to a particularly scathing review from a former employee, who elucidates the horrible treatment received by staff and an even worse miserliness than that experienced by customers. Needless to say, we will not be visiting again and advise others to...
Read moreFood was absolutely great, the two waitresses were outstanding, the place has a great atmosphere, i have been there 4 to 5 times and is constantly good. So good that while i was having dinner, i told my family that for me is one of the best, if not the best Spanish restaurant in Miami.
Now, you wonder what happened, and why am i giving it one star. Is rather silly and to be honest almost a waste of time. However, i believe in fairness and today the owner of this place blamed his staff for something that they were absolutely not at fault for.
They have a bottle of wine called Juan Gil in the menu, there are three versions of it that i know of. One Silver, one blue and one blend. This is one of my favorite day to day bottles, They offered the blue one for a specific price, but they bring the silver which is a third of the cost. I ask why is the silver one being served when they offered the blue, the wife of the owner comes our, I explain my point and immediately there comes the blend, still no blue, but similar in price and quality. At the end they charge more for the one bottle they did not have in the menu, and the owner blames the waitresses for not doing their job. He never took responsibility for the mistake in the menu, even though i offered to pay the difference.
I want to be clear, we are talking about barely 10$ difference, but what i am still trying to process in my head, is how a restaurant owner can make the mistake on the menu and blame his staff.
This is the very first time ever i write a bad review. However this guy’s attitude is almost sad. I hope the two girls did not get yelled at by such a despicable individual.
Hoping that this message helps him comprehend that it was not his staff. What happened today was entirely his fault, he tried to trick his customer into buying something that was not correct, and when exposed, instead of apologizing or just staying quiet he blamed and tried...
Read moreHello.
1st I would like to start that Host and waitress personnel is very nice and responsive.
Manager is the one that lucks of education and professIonalism. My 2year old son was playing in a plaza after getting some cookie at Starbucks. We went outside because Starbucks staff was wiping the floor. My son asked to go to the bathroom and I asked a host at the front if there’s a bathroom in a plaza she knows of we might use. She suggested the bathroom inside the restaurant. We went in and the manager block the bathroom door in front of my 2 year son while screaming to the host the bathroom is for the clients only. Another waitress came out from the kitchen and trying to help my son to get to the bathroom but manager start repeating to her that bathroom is for clients only.
Since my son is little and learning potty train I had to asked for a table and became a client of the restaurant, and went to the bathroom. Bathroom is separated with wash room and toilet room. We waited in a wash room for it to become available.
Leaving I said “Gracias” and my son said gracias twice very loud.
Manager wanted to make a scene and he got it. Instead of politely explain to his staff next time that bathroom is for the clients only and avoid the situation he made it loud and unprofessional trying to kick us out.
As a long time residents of Key Biscayne and dining out weekly I have never met such unprofessional employee and would never come back to...
