The Empanada's Key Biscayne — Restaurant in Key Biscayne

I was feeling skeptical about trying empanadas because I don’t remember ever having one before. I ordered three- one spinach, one chicken cream and one capresse. The capresse was my absolute favorite- I wish I’d ordered more than one caprese empanada.. The other two tasted good, but weren’t remarkable; Remembering the flavor of that capresse empanada and wanting another one six hours later says it all! It’s essentially a take out only restaurant- no sitting areas in their small space. Service was just okay- she was friendly, but when I asked what was a Béchamel sauce, she only said it was a white sauce and couldn’t tell me anymore, so that wasn’t helpful. We live on Florida’s west coast, and was vacationing in Key Biscayne. I remember some great empanadas there from a prior trip, but the place we got them could not be found and seemed must have been out of business. So googled empanada and this place came up. The few reviews seemed positive so dropped by on our way home as a final stop and something to eat on the ride. Wow. One of the best things I’ve put in my mouth. Fresh. Scratch made. You can almost feel the love in each bite. I had the spicy beef, pork mango and apple pie for desert. All stellar. Family had various other empanadas, rave reviews. Small, hope in the wall, but they’ve got their stuff together. $30 for a dozen. (Or something like that). Fast. Friendly. ...

I placed an order but I was missing one of the empanadas, I called them to let them know and the lady who answered the phone was extremely rude. Barely allowed me to speak, and just kept saying that I was incorrect when I can clearly see I was missing one. Instead of at least apologizing, they said it was not their fault and blamed it on us, saying maybe the driver ate one. Completely unprofessional blaming others instead of just correcting their mistake. If they knew and offered good customer service you’d know the customer is always right. SPECIALLY when we are!
