Planet Bagel — Restaurant in Keyport

Such great service at the bagel place in town... I walk in with my 14month old in the stroller. There are 3 girls working behind the counter and only 2 customers waiting for their orders. I walk up to the counter. No one even acknowledges we are there. I wait for a minute, one of the girls hands an order to one of the customers waiting right in front of me, still don't get acknowledged. Then another worker sees me but doesn't say anything and proceeds to take rolls of coins to the register to fill it still no one acknowledges us...then finally after 5 minutes the girl who had been filling up the coins in the register that also dropped some on the ground and picked them up looks at me and with an attitude says "what do you need?" I told her I needed half a dozen bagels 4 plain 2 blueberry but asked her if she wouldn't mind washing her hands first since she was just handling money and picked it off the floor. She rolls her eyes at me grabs a paper bag and say "what did you want again?" And proceeds to get ready to grab my bagels with out washing her hands. By this time there was another person behind me in line who also witnessed this so I just said never mind and walked out...thanks for the outstanding service and big waste of time...I wouldn't normal post something like this but the whole reason I took my baby out for a walk was to go there for bagels for her and my family...shame we don't have another more friendly option for bagels in town. They are only getting 1 star in this review because it wouldn't let me...

Places you do business in that don’t let you use their bathroom can go really go ** themselves, Planet Bagel of Keyport I had to pee really bad, so I politely asked if I could use their restroom they said “no” so I asked does the laundromat have one, the worker replied “I think so,”

so I went to the laundromat and bathroom was locked the owner had not arrived yet.

So I went back to planet bagel told them “hey I tried going next door it isn’t open yet I really have to go may I please use you your bathrom” again told “no”

mind you my sandwich already ordered and paid for, still Told no. Such gem treatment by our own local business to our own local patrons 🙏🏻 (sarcasm) but hey my business is no problem to use / accept.

So again desperately I Walked back over to the laundromat the owner had arrived the sweetest women where I am doing no business at that current point in time “not washing or drying anything” and I asked “hey would you mind if I used your bathroom” and she replies “go right ahead young man”

I live in Union beach I love when we take care of our own. I have had other experiences at planet bagel I was not so impressed with.

I really think if you can take patrons monies you can set up a situation where a bathroom is available, especially in a situation where I asked twice in the manner I did.

Golden rule …. Treat others how you want to be treated… customer service and appreciation...

If you like food poisoning definitely go here. 2 weeks ago I became violently ill 10 minutes after consuming a non toasted bagel with chicken salad. So I decided to start watching. A week ago a girl collected money at the register with gloves on, then takes my order and grabs my bagel out of the bin with the same gloves. I asked her to change her gloves and get me another bagel, she did. She knew she was wrong. Today, 11/6, I ordered the same. The girl had gloves on, but, opens the sliding case door with her gloved right hand, takes out the chicken salad with her same hand, and closes the case with the same. Cuts my bagel AND SCOOPS THE CHICKEN SALAD OUT WITH HE SAME GLOVED RIGHT HAND AND SMASHES IT ON MY BAGEL. Sorry but 3 strikes and your out. I told her I didn't want that bagel and why. SHE WANTS TO ARGUE TELLING ME SHE JUST PUT THOSE GLOVES ON.. LOL! I didn't see what I saw with my own 2 eyes. When I told her she says JUST TAKE YOUR COFFEE AND GO! LOL! So I did. Drive the 5 minutes to Bagel Boys if you value your health. Teenage girls with attitude aren't good at customer service. I will never go here again.. AVOID...
